Tata Consultancy Hi fishies, I recently interviewed for a Big data dev role for Autodesk but it's via a third party called Applicantz. Initially the contract is for 1 year, which can be extended. There is also scope of Autodesk hiring permanently after 6 months or 1 year. Can anyone provide some reviews about Autodesk and third party Applicantz. Usually I would not have considered anything via a third party, but the company(Autodesk) seems great and work discussed seems good as well.

It happens, usually at entry level based on demand for the services. The employer is better off committing to a general field (e.g., “IT Consulting”) during recruiting to give them this flexibility.
Your options are basically to network your way into what you want, give a shot at where you wound up (you might actually like it), or quit and find it elsewhere. It depends on how much you otherwise like your current company.
Note that occasionally people at lower levels may get force transferred after joining if their practice overhired and another that can use their skills needs more at their level. This usually avoids a layoff.
