Is it really that common to be expected to do some work on christmas eve and christmas day? First year here, took a few days off but still being asked “i know you’re off but can you do x, y and z?” regarding absolutely not urgent things by a partner who knows I am with my parents who just recovered from covid and whom i hadn’t seen in a year. I’ve had days off de facto “cancelled” by having to do work which I understand but christmas? For things that really *can* wait? Why?

I'm a scotch whisky drinker, pretty much exclusively, apart from a few select Irish bottles. Live in Ireland. So go tos would be Springbank, Kilkerran, Laphroaig, Caol Ila, Arran, Highland Park, Glengoyne...

On many visits to the US I've tried various Bourbons. Never very successful. Always seemed overly sweet and syrupy to my palette.

But I'm sure there are great choices out there.

What would you suggest as quality American whiskies for a scotch fanatic?
