Would totally give you a hug now if I could 🤗 I was married to my ex husband for 5 years and from the very beginning we took the approach of “it will happen when it’s meant to”. No birth control from the start. Never fell pregnant. Got divorced (due to other reasons) and we both got re-married within 2 years. We both have 2 kids with our new spouses 😁 new hubby and I were actively ‘trying’ for about a year for our first and for our second, I’d read this really insightful article and fell pregnant literally the second month of ‘trying’. What the article had said, was to track period and ovulation dates and understand you have a window of 3-5 days over that ovulation period. Article recommended intercourse every 2nd day during that 3-5 day window. Did it and it totally worked! No taking temperatures and no exhausting or taking the fun or spontaneity out of things.
This pandemic has been exceptionally stressful on top of the rigors of working in management consulting. Maybe take a break. Download a period tracker app that helps pinpoint most likely ovulation and try that ‘every second day’ thing during that ovulation window. If after 4 months of still nothing, both of you go see your doctors and get properly checked out. 🤗🤗
This is great advice! One step in between the app and doctors, if you want, is to check with the at-home ovulation strips, so you can confirm the rough windows if your periods aren’t always regular.
Recommend reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility and also talking to your doctor sooner rather than later. Some doctors say wait a year but there are good doctors who will work with you before this if needed or see a Reproductive Endocrinologist. Good luck :)
I remember taking a trip to Europe while tracking my cycle and carrying samples of my pee in a fanny pack for a few hours to use my ovulation sticks to test at the same time in the US. It was ridiculous, but I did get prego the first time, twice.
Just gave birth at 34. Had been on birth control for years prior and it took us about a year after going off birth control before I got pregnant.
Both of us got checked out by doctors to ensure there wasn’t any unknown fertility issues (eg low sperm count/inactive sperm, healthy eggs, etc) before we started. Main issue for us last year was timing since I traveled every week and it was tough to coordinate schedules. We tracked using an ovulation app and finally got pregnant during one of the rare times we were in the same country.
Would suggest that both of you consider getting checked out by a doctor to ensure neither of you have fertility issues as well. Some of my friends tried for 2 years without any success only to find out it was due to low sperm count / lack of healthy eggs or other issues.
7 months for me with first baby! Only tracked ovulation with Clearblue digital..
Good luck OP ❤️

4 months with #1 and six months with #2. With #2, we got pregnant the first month we used ovulation sticks. I wasn’t ovulating when the calendar said I was. Highly recommend.
These responses give me hope! All my friends got pregnant immediately and make me feel like something must be wrong since we've been trying for 6 months
Thank you!!!!
Went to a fertility clinic bc of issues on both sides. We were 31/34 at the time. Got off BC for two months, then got the pre-conception testing done, which I recommend. Tried for two months on our own, no dice. Went in for a monitoring session, since my periods weren’t regular, and learned I wasn’t ovulating on my own. Started a protocol then, and was pregnant 5-6 weeks later.

Got pregnant first month both times. I followed the method where we had sex every other day starting on day 7 of my cycle and ending on day 21
Yup this is what ended up working for me. Buy some lube 🤣

We’re TTC #2 right now. #1 took 2 years (two losses along the way). If you’re actively trying 6 months or casually for 12 months and not getting pregnant, it’s worth a trip to your doc to run some prelim tests (and husband too). No use in continuing to TTC if you’re not ovulating, husband has a sperm issue, etc.
Used Ovia fertility app. I've always been super regular and only ever used condoms for birth control so I trusted the calendar without putting in a lot of data.
First pregnancy was first try at 27. Second pregnancy was second try at 29. That one ended in mmc, which messed with my cycle for a bit. Third pregnancy happened in month 7 of actively trying at 30. She's almost 6 months now. I know the waiting is hard and stressful. I was convinced that something was "broken" after the mmc that I just didn't know about. Ironically, we got pregnant the same month I had decided to give up! I had decided to just go on a health kick and revisit down the road. I started barre, and then got pregnant a few weeks in... Maybe it the exercise that did it 🤷 I did use the app each time though.

This is encouraging. I’ve had a much longer journey but I’m also taking a break and going on a health kick. Maybe that’ll help!
Hard to say, we never tried we just didn’t do anything to stop it with baby #1. Are you tracking your cycle? I’m planning on being more intentional with #2 and it’s been helpful to know/monitor.
I am tracking my cycle via app. We have been intentionally trying during the suspected ovulation window I would say 6 out of the past 9 months. I also bought ovulation sticks to verify if I am ovulating during that period and it seems to line up.

9 months at 34, it’s worth getting checked out. Especially if you’re actively trying (like tracking ovulation and timing intercourse, not just off birth control). We tried for 6 months after I went off bc, then I went to an RE and was diagnosed with PCOS. Got pregnant after 3 rounds of IUI. Was also 34 when I got pregnant with my first.
I also have “mild case” (whatever that means) of PCOS which has worried me in regards to my chances of getting pregnant. I am on metformin though.
Read Taking Charge of Your Fertility once we decided to TTC. Used the advice in the book and was pregnant in 1 month. Was really worried as we’re not young - 33F and 42m, but that book works.

Good footnote PWC2. I read the book too but with PCOS and adenomyosis, it wasn’t all that helpful.
Took 7 months at 32
Took 5 months - I'm 31, husband is 36
7 months at 30/31 yo. Little girl is 3 weeks old 🥰
Congratulations!!
8 months for us. First 6 months tried to use ovulation sticks, etc. At 6 months checked in with my doctor who said to throw all that stuff out the window and have sex every day or every other day starting a few days after your period ends (like high schoolers lol). Wasn’t really my cup to tea but that worked in the second month.
1.5 years for us then surprise twins! This time around I used Ava because I won it at a fertility session. It’s a little pricy but I really like it (that being said I didn’t pay for it). I crazily got pregnant the first try, then miscarried that pregnancy. Got pregnant a third time 6 months after the miscarriage. Was 36 when I had the twins.
