How often do you roll covered calls? I have a $21 covered call expiring soon on a stock I'd just as soon keep but ran up over the last week and is now trading around $24. It looks like I can roll the date back a bit and increase the strike price by $1, making me an extra $100 or perhaps avoiding exercise if the stick dips.

If this is a bad idea, what is the best exit strategy for a covered call that long term you'd like to hold and acquire additional shares?
