Passing on an opportunity because of the recruiter is suboptimal…

Hate that you lost the opportunity but the life lesson is you can’t take anyone for granted. Even though this was “just” a recruiter, they’re on the company’s team and you weren’t. Doesn’t matter who was right or wrong, in a game of he said, she said you always take the person you work withs side. Now, if you were really in the wrong or tried to act like this person was beneath you, take the opportunity for a good long hard look in the mirror.

If it wasn’t clear in the original message, we had lots of arguments back and forth and eventually I dropped the phone on him.

funny

Rather than you black balling the recruiter, you may be the one blackballed.

Get in front of the Partner. The recruiter is only the intermediary. If the Partner isn’t enthusiastic you can withdraw.

I don’t think you passed that screening, OP.

If you hung up on/told off a recruiter, I would assume you did not move on to the next step. Typically the way we do interviews is an initial screen with a recruiter, followed by a phone screening, followed by a panel of interviews. So if you went off during the recruiting screen, I’d assume you got cut. If you’re saying you passed that and the phone screen, then subsequently hung up on the recruiter while discussing the panel round, that’s still not great.

Sooo what's the beef with the recruiter OP?!👀👀

Following for this.

I’m so confused because I’ve never engaged with a recruiter beyond “what’s the job,” “what’s the salary,” “what time do I show up for the interview,” and “how long before the decision.” I don’t understand how one can get emotional in such a transactional and business oriented interaction.

Was told I’d only have one round (4 interviews), each split 50/50 on case/behavioral. This is for an Associate position and will be interviewing with AP/P/SP level. Is this typical? Since I see most people have multiple rounds.

Quick scenario: If I have a consulting offer from a different Big 4 that has a start date post-10/15, so that in theory I would not have to submit a 2 weeks notice until post-10/1 (bonus payout date) but I sign the offer pre-9/30, am I obligated (looking for both legal & professional standpoint) to tell PwC because it is with a competitor? This is essentially the exact same group at the other big 4

How do you think a swap from MBB to big4 strategy would be viewed? Currently in a flagship office of an MBB and there is basically no strategy. There are 9 miserable cost outs / transformations / PMOs for every 1 borderline strategy case. The staffing lottery in my region means you almost always end up working 75 hours+ on some god forsaken project. Contrast that to what I hear about big 4 strategy: lower hours and more strategy exposure as the crappy projects go to the other MC departments

I need to learn a new way to speak about process improvement and efficiencies. I’ve learned I have a knack for this but it seems like such common sense to me that I struggle articulating this to people who just don’t get it. I have no certifications and have no interest in getting one… Also, can you actually teach process improvement to people who don’t get it or is this just a DNA thing. Help? :)
