Not planning to retire in US so medical costs will be very low compared to US. After 65, I should be able to get the $ from HSA without any penalty. Would I be taxed on just contributions or growth as well?

At that point it taxed like distributions from a traditional IRA or 401k...so both contributions and growth

like

It’s just treated as income, so it follows the tax brackets

like

As IC1 said. And depending where you are living when you receive distribution you could even possibly be double taxed depending on wording (or non-existence) of any tax treaty. But who knows how things will be if you’re thinking 30-40 years from now.

like

I’d google federal income tax brackets.

Where you going? Can I come lol

With $2M you can spend $80k annually into perpetuity. That can buy you a decent lifestyle in many places in the US.

Got an offer for Atlassian Canada - senior product manager. Initial offer is 160k base +15% annual bonus (24k) + 20k sign on bonus. RSU is 220k USD payable over next 4 years. There's no RRSP match (401k match equivalent). Considering its Atlassian, and current market rate, I think base is low. I would like it to be bumped upto to 180k. The recruiter earlier said the top of the pay range is 165k, which I feel is not really top but maybe median? Help me negotiate please; historically suck at it.

I anticipate getting a low interest 24 month loan (hoping 0%) next year of about 15k.

I am currently living "paycheck to paycheck" (after maxing retirement accounts). But I have cash savings from inheritance in a HYSA: 15k emergency fund + 20k excess cash.

I can afford to pay the loan in full immediately, but assuming low rate, I don't plan to. What's the best strategy here? I can't just invest my 20k excess cash because I live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford the minimum payments (cont)
