This is a great situation. You are free to Airbnb and find where you want to live. Or maybe you find you are happiest being a nomad

Find bigger mountains to climb and move there

Sounds like a fantastic opportunity to explore!

I can relate to this so hard. It’s a strange feeling. Sometimes it’s liberating and exiting and other times I feel so lost by it. I too moved to the west coast for the summer for the outdoors, as I also JUST released my nyc lease of 4 years. Im confused. Do I want to go back to nyc? If I don’t, where do I go?

Have you considered living north of the city along the Hudson Valley (or even further north in VT or western MA)? The mountains aren’t as big as out west, but there’s still plenty of outdoorsy things to do on the East Coast while still being close to the culture of NYC. I’m having the same dilemma and can relate 100%! It’s such a tough call.

I love the Hudson Valley and def miss Nyc culture. The thing is that I am single and that area feels like it could be isolating solo.

What an excellent problem. When you’re moving around are you doing like a year at a time? Any reason why you couldn’t do 3 month stints somewhere?

Try New Mexico/Arizona for the winter? Desert is beautiful In Winter. And not to far from you now. See the country in a more relaxed way.

Would SF or LA be a good fit? Easy access to the outdoors plus a thriving ad industry/city culture

Back on the market and I’m coming to find two things: 1. Less desirable agencies are the ones who want people back on-site soon, with no wiggle room for remote work. 2. These same agencies want to pay salaries based on COL in the city where the agency is based even if you’re working/living from another market in the interim. Example: Midwest based agency paying Midwest salaries to folks living in places like NY, SF, LA. 🧐🧐🧐🧐

Everyone should openly share their salaries/wages with anyone who wants to know. It only helps other workers and is only bad for companies. Biggest company propaganda was getting the general public to think that’s it’s inappropriate to have salary transparency.
