Not sure if this is the right bowl, but do your companies have ERG? I’m curious what everyone’s experience is. I’ve had mixed opinions about it

Yep! We just started them last year - we have a DE&I group, one devoted to offsetting our environmental impact, one devoted to mental health issues. I think it's a great way to get to know your colleagues better and spread awareness of some of these very important issues.

like

we're global so yes, we have one and it's VERY active. I think there are some people doing genuinely good work and advocating. Others are just coasting IMO, but I guess it's better than nothing

Companies are always looking for retention and for us to feel truly valued, but because it's a business, I can't imagine my boss would truly see it as realistic of care enough to integrate ERG.

like

That’s exactly what I’m thinking. ERG would be great only if everyone is engaged and open to it. Otherwise it wouldn’t be impactful

Yes we do. We've actually got a couple which are supported and funded by the company for initiatives like get togethers and whatnot. They're great for building good relationships within the company and minimizing misunderstandings.

No not yet, we have taken some classes and had some workshops but nothing yet.

We had sessions on the topics of Cultural Awareness, Competence, Diversity, White Privilege, and HowImplicit Bias Can Affect How We Engage Potential Clients; access to Hanover Research, and training on the topic of LGBTQ+ Awareness. They were provided by our employer.

like

Hello! Not yet. However, we are looking forward to integrate it in our company next year.

Yes, we do have one initiated by the Asians within the company and I think they have been pretty active as far as I know. They kicked it off at the beginning of the year and have been thriving and have built such a strong, empowering community.

yes we just started implementing this year.

Hi yes we have quite a few. They are employee initiated but receive company funding each quarter to do what they please with — host happy hours, make donations, throw events to raise awareness, make merch, whatever they want

Hmm. Not yet. It's been on our priority list but until now we haven't integrated it yet.

Hi, all the tax professionals here. I have a question. My client started a business to develop a new formula in year 2013. The business failed and my client decided to abandon the business in year 2019. During year 2013 and 2018, no loss or expenses were claimed on the return. Can he claim all the loss/ expenses on year 2019 return. If yes, what the tax code or regulation can apply to this case? I appreciate your insights.

Hello! I’m starting to look for remote Recruiter position and would love to get into the Tech industry. I’ve worked in a fast-paced, full-cycle Recruiter role in Healthcare for the past year and more of an administrative role the year before that. I have my Bachelors degree in Marketing and frequently pick up design projects for our campaigns.

I’d love to chat with anyone regarding this industry change and hear of any leads you may know of! Thank you in advance!!

Additional Posts in Human Resources

My company went toxic in the last couple months. Chose me and started interviewing. Had a very successful interview with Amazon but recruiter is working hard trying to place me and said there’s no knowing how long to find a team. Meanwhile I just received a Director offer for a company with a 29% pay bump July 1. If Amazon or any other FAANG/large co gets back to me, is there an acceptable way to not burn bridges with new job and accept or delay start date with FAANG? Or fuck it just hop?

I’m contracting with a company in an admin role, but sometimes I’m asked to do projects that would normally be outsourced to a marketing or design company like designing a flyer for example. It’s not in my job description, but I have the skills to do this work and so why not ask me to do it? Is it out of the question to ask if I can be paid for that work under a separate fee as a consultant or something? Is that even possible?

I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.
