Not sure this is the right bowl, but I was considering trying to donate my $1200 stimulus check to a family in need. But I’m kind of at a loss on how to find a family in need. anyone have any advice?

Just donate to a well respected charity. They can do more good with the $1200, you have more of a guarantee its being spent on the right things, and they will already have contacts for families in need.

Awesome, I’ll check it out! Thanks!

I am trying to figure out the same. I’ve considered donating to a food/food bank or homeless shelter instead but appreciate the desire to give it specifically to individuals who need it. But haven’t thought through it all yet. Feel very lucky to have a solid middle class job where Both my hubby and I are still working and getting paid. Don’t get me wrong - could definitely use the $ but very conscious that I don’t need it the way some people do.

Yes I feel the same way! I would love to save it but I know there families really hurting right now so I’d like to do something to help

I doubt any family I’m America is in need. They all got checks. Send it to a third world country

A1, that is a very US-centric view

Hold onto it until you find someone. I wouldn’t give it to a stranger. Or buy groceries/toilet paper and donate it to a food pantry. I heard food pantries are not in a good situation. And the people in need will go there.

^ this! My family used the food pantry a lot during the last recession, it was a lifeline for us

This is a grocery supermarket in Colombia 🇨🇴 that is donating groceries packs to families that were left without jobs due to the virus. This is mostly

I actually work for a charity. We're a nonprofit that provides healthcare services and we are being negatively impacted by COVID19. I can provide you with a link to our website where you can donate if you are interested

Such a kind thought! Used to work for County government. Most counties have a special assistance fund for those who need emergency rent, utilities, food, etc. You could give them a call to see how these funds can be directed. Also, local food pantries take online donations. Finally, check with local religious places of worship - they usually are contributing to multiple families in need and would appreciate the assistance. Take care & stay safe!

Thank you! I appreciate the suggestions. I’ll look into it

I've given some money to a couple gofundmes for a couple of my favorite restaurants/bars and their employees. Might be easier to find than a specific family who needs all your stimulus money

Are you trying to do it in US or another country ?

Send it to a local food bank. Or send it to your housekeeper.

If it wasn’t verboten to make “unnecessary” trips to the grocery store, the most impactful and direct way to give back is to just buy someone who is obviously struggling groceries. A charity or food bank may be able to purchase more raw goods for the money, but I believe the personal aspect of this gesture carries dividends far beyond the mechanical receipt of food from a food bank. It may foster hope in the recipient that wasn’t there before.

Half to charity half to local businesses in your area.

Find a local homeless shelter and donate to them

I’m going to use the check to buy groceries and give them out to the local homeless people!

I was recently offered a Zoom interview. I had 10 slots to choose from. I took the first slot available. Three were one day earlier this week and the rest are next week. Does it look good (or desperate, lol) on my part that I took the first time or should I have waited until next week so that I would be fresher on their minds when choosing a candidate? Also, do interviewers still appreciate a handwritten note after an interview?

How many hours a week a typical Senior in Cyber works at Deloitte?

Pretty highly rated consistently and up for director this year. For years been thinking of starting a business (franchise). Pandemic has put a dent in that but still viable option. Gross profit is 350k (median) and a line of business I’d be very interested in. Clearly this is less pay than new parter (but could open more than one eventually) and risk may be higher for failure. What other factors should I consider when evaluating staying to partner or trying my hand as an entrepreneur?

Has anyone else’s husband just never really given them complements? My husband refuses to because he says it would make it meaningless when he says them (so he doesn’t say I look nice in case on the ~5 times he says it a year it would be ‘watered down’). I really struggle with it sometimes, and it’s also hard because he expects little affirmations from me (which I happily do anyway because I want him to feel loved)

Had 3 rounds of interviews for a job that starts in January. So i checked in with the recruiter and now she wants to schedule a “call” next week. What does that mean? Would they tell me I’m not getting an offer?

Resignation - I recently quit my job in a very toxic environment and I’ve been here over eight years. I think I should write something to the owner in appreciation but can’t to seem to find the words because it’s just been so awful. I don’t want to burn any bridges. Looking for input and suggestions.

Confession time. I absolutely despise flying. I go out of my way to avoid it. I will drive to a client overnight and not sleep before getting on an airplane. Unfortunately for the first time since COVID I have meetings that are too far to drive and am flying 4 different times this week. Brutal. I’m nauseous and can’t sleep. Any suggestions to ease the phobia quickly?! Help.

Would you take a 20k salary hit to be remote? Financially, I’ll be fine-no direct lifestyle change. I won’t have to commute 110 miles per day and I will actually have a bonus structure with career growth potential. My current team is great, but there’s no career growth and company isn’t looking too hot for the foreseeable future. If I factor in the commute cost (11,000) per year and then reduced insurance (1800 less) it’s not a crazy hit.
