You're spending a lot of time in that place, right? If you love it and are going to love it long-term, go with the place that makes you happy!
If you're looking at it as an investment, and you're likely to move soon, then upside.
Buy the one you want to die in, and then you will be happy. #Simplicity
I agree with Senior Manager 1. You are going to be working an insanely amount of hours. When you have that limited previous time off, you need to be able to relax and unplug in a place that you love, and are not just hanging out hoping for an uptick in the market. You will truly appreciate it as time goes on.
But home that you love. The timing of the upside can be very far out. Chances are also that what you love will have appeal to others too and if you want to sell sooner you’ll do well. I know people who waited 10-15 years for the upside... no point in not enjoying your home for so long.
The one you love sounds like it would have great upside potential as you’ve described it.
If picking those with potential upside is so easy for you then you should make a career of it and get rich.
Except that usually this doesn’t work, so pick a house you’re willing to own even if prices do go down.
By the one you love. If you see so much upside potential, so does the rest of the market. So that is already factored into the price. Plus, trying to time the market is never recommended.
Buy the location that you love, but the house doesn't have to be your dream. Pay someone to build or remodel to get exactly what you want, but where you want is a more critical decision. Currently in country #4, went to settlement last week and demo starts next week (sipping local wine, listening to the cicadas, and looking up at the milky way as I write this).
