I had mine really early in my consulting career (as a new Associate) and while it was tough making two transitions at once, I don’t regret it at all. It actually had a lot of unexpected upsides. It forced me to be more intentional early in my career and to look for people and projects that supported me and let me set healthy boundaries. Being forced to do it from the beginning as opposed to switching mid-stream was actually really helpful because I don’t think I’d be in the same position I am now if I hadn’t had to be thoughtful in that way early in my career here
Same here, although associate at my firm is one level before manager.
I do wish I did a couple personal trips abroad before we started trying. I used to live in SE Asia but I never got to take my husband there after we got married. Between two pregnancies, I haven't been able to go to any zika locations for 4 years.
Had mine at 35. Agree with BC1 - never a perfect time, but I’ve never regretted waiting. It didn’t feel right in my late 20s (when I felt the pressures from family/friends/society) and I didn’t have a good support system in place at that time.
Had my first at 31 and have no regrets
from a career perspective. There’s never a good time in your career to have kids! So you should do it when you’re emotionally/mentally ready. Sometimes I wish I had done a bit more personal travel before having kids, but I think that might have happened even if I had waited till I was like 40. I love traveling and doing it with a toddler is so hard!
Thank you both for the insight and honesty ^^ 🙏
