Notification fatigue is slowly killing me. The majority of my teams are all remote so all communication is via chat and all day long some channel is blowing up. On top of job anxiety, having numerous people tag you or alerting about something is draining. I think I’m about to have a breakdown 🫠

totally get that! i sometimes block time off in the middle of the day to get work done and let my partner know i’m doing this , she stays on the lookout for anything and lets me know if i’m needed while i work with my wifi literally disconnected

When I have days like that I turn off my notifications, and put my status as busy. I then plan an hour near the end of the workday to respond to the notifications and emails. I believe that notifications from chats are "when I can get to them" not drop everything I am doing to respond.

like

I agree with this. It's helpful to remember that just because it pops up doesn't mean it has to be attended to right this second. Yet, ADHD makes that tricky because it suddenly seems to be of utmost importance. After all, it's right in front of you!

I feel this! It can be so tricky sometimes. I would recommend setting particular times you check notifications/messages during the day for maybe 20 minutes. Then, for the rest of the time, mute them, close the window, or do whatever you need to do for your mental health and productivity. All those notifications can make it nearly impossible to get work done.

Ahh. I can absolutely relate to everything you said here. I feel like throwing up everytime I hear a notification. We could really use time off. We got this, OP! We jusy need to recharge.

like

I strategically block time on my calendar every day. I have two 15 minute blocks early in the day and an hour block from 4:30-5:30 to unwind before heading home. If things get busy or chaotic I’ll drop a 30-60 minute block in whatever free time I may have, and if a meeting gets cancelled, I put a block on the calendar for half of that time so I can unwind a bit and focus. During those blocks I may check notifications, but usually spend at least a few minutes on TikTok or something.

like

I feel that. Honestly I set time blocks and I don't look at notifications until I am done with the task at hand and my alarm goes off. Otherwise I will spend all day try8ing to refocus and get nothing done.

like

Book some time to do work and some time to be off work. If you are constantly thinking about work, you will end up burnout.

I’ll try to time block. It’s just unfortunate because my work is often same day turnaround or time sensitive. Team members often check in or provide clarification or additional information for jobs we’re working on so ignoring messages for an hour or so isn’t always feasible. I probably just need a new gig 😑

ugh that seems terrible, sent you a couple agencies i know are hiring!
