Now that some of us are traveling, does anyone else get a little concerned about going through metal detector/body scanner constantly (even pre covid) and worry about getting cancer?

Metal detectors don’t give you cancer. The full body scanner(millimeter wave) also hit you with non ionizing rays which don’t cause cancer either. Even the ones which do give out ionizing rays is nothing compared to radiation exposure during a day time flight!

That's why I am buying a horse and a buggy

The metal detector much better than the body scan machine imo

I had to check just to make sure there wasn't one. 🤨

Other things that may give you cancer: the plane, alcohol, tobacco, air pollution, being overweight, the sun, processed foods, red meat, candles, your furniture, the paint on your walls

And the high power lines in the neighborhood

No, we're all going to have our faces melted off by
Zorp the Surveyor anyway so why worry about cancer

I wasnt but now I am. How will it interact with the 5G coursing through my veins ?? 🤔

Alright. My bad. I’ll admit I didn’t know that metal detectors aren’t that harmful. But I’m still concerned about the radiation from flying.

likefunny

Just get one of these and you'll be good for radiation and Covid

Metal detectors don’t bother me, but I always opt out of the full body scanner if selected.

Same. They give you a hard time sometimes, but it’s your legal right.

After what the army has done to me, my body is a thunder dome. It’s amazing I’m not dead already.

Man. It’s wild being out of the science world.

I would be lying if I said I didn’t have some concerns and am debating opting out moving forward. https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/is-that-airport-security-scanner-really-safe/

I just found out that I'm pregnant. I was going to go on my IVF cycle in August!

My Dr had previously mentioned that I’d be given progesterone after the transfer. I’d like to have that given to my age and history of recurring miscarriages.

Do I ask my OBGYN or my IVF Dr for this prescription? My obgyn is a believer that a baby is nature’s choice; she didn't give me anything during my last pregnancy so I’m not sure how helpful she’d be this time.

Hi all! So first, husband and I are both 28. I’ve been pregnant before and had previous child at 23. I was obviously way younger. Didn’t even try to get pregnant back then. Fast forward five years later, want a baby badly. I am 50 pounds more than I was at 23. And my periods are now irregular. I do get them every month which the obgyn thought was a great sign. But I’m still not pregnant. I cant pinpoint ovulation as some months my period is 29-32 days and last month it was 45. Help

Would really love to help my lovely sister in law find a job in NYC or CT. She gets down around the holidays because she's single and doesn't have kids, but is an amazing aunt to our kids. Does anyone have any leads in the health/ wellness space? Im in biglaw and this is out of my depth a bit. TIA, Happy Holidays!

Still looking for work 2 1/2 years later. I was laid off when Covid hit as a Director of food and beverage in West Hollywood /Beverly Hills, relocated to Omaha Nebraska with the same organization to open a property. Laid off after the opening. I’ve been doing Task Force work since. Looking at vice president or Director roles hotels/restaurant companies! I have applied everywhere, nothing but ghosting treated disrespectfully, offered horrible salaries or told positions on hold. Need a Job

Partners, please looking for some advice. I work for a boutique firm and worked really hard the past year with a lot more responsibilities and an under staffed team (hiring freeze because of covid). My bonus number was good, but not great (I didn’t get my max bonus). The reason from my boss was that while my performance was well recognized, because of covid there was a broad bonus haircut. However, my direct reports did not get any bonus. It has really tainted my view on the firm because...cont.

Question for the Biglaw Bowl: How common is it to take a pay cut when being promoted from associate to income partner? I had heard about this happening at some lower ranked V100 firms. But now that I’m more senior and my friends are making partner, it sounds like it’s a lot more common than I thought and happens at firms where I wouldn’t expect it. Does anyone here have any insight into this? How common is it, how much of a pay cut, and how long until your pay catches up to associate pay?
