I have always taught my students that life is a path of actions and consequences that are a result of those prior actions; positive actions positive consequences, negative actions negative consequences. I change the vocabulary from "I'm giving you a ___" to "You're earning a ___ with your actions." I start my first day with this lesson and have frequent reminders of this throughout the year. This has always been a successful strategy.
Got stood up by a fellow consultant on my birthday. Changed my plan of the day completely to meet him up. A good lesson for my year ahead😢
I am teaching as an adjunct at my alma mater. I am focusing a class on life as an attorney and the different roles your substantive background can bring you to and tips/tricks/antidotes for survival. What are the things you wish someone told you as a 2L or 3L about life and law and your practice? Things to focus on or ignore? Lessons learned the hard way? Would love to crowd source bullets on this outside of my own experience (and my guest speakers who are unfortunately all male except for 1).
I'm researching online platforms such as Khan Academy, Quizizz, EdPuzzle, EdConnect, Nearpod, Kahoot, I-Ready, DeltaMath, Edulastic, etc. What are some you have used that are helpful in assessing your students after you have taught a lesson?

Hot take: resumes don’t need to be perfect—they just have to be “good enough.” 🔗 in comments for the resume I used to get out of consulting to join a start-up, in addition to the resume tips and tricks (and lessons learned) I found to be most helpful.

Anyone try to teach your kid to read? Our 5yo has been home for the past year. So I am trying to get her started on “teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons” to get her ready for stuff she missed by not going to preschool. Struggling a bit coz I am an immigrant and never learnt this way either. Any video resources that will help me and my 5yo?

After yesterday, this is my thought: I need to check with my students mentally first, the lesson can wait or be done tomorrow. Oxford High School is 21 miles from my school.
Hi. My principal wants me to record video lessons for my (3rd grade) students while school is "out." I only brought home one reading lesson book. Any suggestions about what I can do for a fun lesson?
In the office today, NY biglaw factory. Somewhere, echoing down the halls of my floor, is someone hacking away with a terrible cough for the last hour. Sigh….almost two years of a pandemic and we apparently still haven’t learned the simplest lesson to stay home when sick….this is why biglaw can’t have nice things!

Are there “on-cycle” recruiting pipelines for recruiting from post-MBA roles? Or is it all ad-hoc recruiting?
26M making $155k base and about $185k TC at a large payments firm (Visa, MC, AmEx). I’m also 1 year away from promo which will probably get me to $210-220k TC. Do you think I still need an MBA? A lot of senior leaders in my team have 1 so I’m really not sure at this point. The opportunity costs are high, but I’m well aware of the long term benefits. I’ve also already taken the GMAT and gotten a 740. I’m an Asian male and find the hurdles that we go through for admissions a turn off as well.
Is anyone else awful at completing their own annual reviews, but are expected to drive results for their organization? I'm sitting her at midnight literally racing the clock 🥴

I'm a 2017 grad at a small firm as a trial attorney but my managing attorney has never done a trial and is terrible at depositions. I've done 4 criminal trials a couple years ago and I have 2 years experience with deps. I'm basically doing everything solo. Can I still become a great trial attorney without a mentor? Do you learn enough on the fly to adapt and be great?
