To current / former PE associates - if the hours are on average better than IB or consulting, why is it so common to hear lifestyle is often much more difficult? Is it just stress from increased responsibility? Do better hours and (marginally) more certainty over your schedule not compensate?

I’m having a lot of issues focusing and staying on task. I often start something get distracted and totally forget what I was doing. my brain is like in constant short circuit. I’ve tried things like the pomodoro method, deleted distracting apps, everything I found online but nothing helps. I’m trying to plan a Memorial Day weekend birthday for my boyfriend. I was thinking an Airbnb near hiking trails or something. We’re in Chicago area so Ohio, Wisconsin, and Michigan aren’t out of the question. Any suggestions?

Consulting is the least stressful part of my life. My relationship is at a very low point (unexpected loss on his side) and I am the target of a lot of anger and emotion. On top of it, a back injury (discs) has flared up making it extremely painful to move so now I’m “not helpful” and “obsessed with work” (I work 40ish hours). Where do I draw the line? Because I’m at my limit.

Anyone else dealing with terrible foot pain and have any suggestions? It’s not swollen or tingling. I elevate my feet daily, never walk barefoot, and make my poor hubby give me rubs. I’m assuming it’s just from the extra weight because it just feels like I’ve walked 10 miles even though I am not even that active 😅 help!

Help - want to propose to the GF soon. I wanna buy a nice ring possibly as a surprise, but have no clue about the steps of this thing. What's the proper sequence (this is my first guess).

1. Ask her parents
2. Discuss about the ring/stone etc?
3. Buy the actual ring
4. Plan a surprise proposal

For added context, we already discussed the wedding and also possibly going for lab diamonds.

TIA for your help 🙏

I was working at a Hotel one night & I saw a man appearing on two different floors, then in the stairwell. The man was in his 70’s or 80’s. He was wearing nothing but tidy whiteys. When he got to the front desk I asked “is everything alright? Are you okay?” (Assuming he may be senile),He wasn’t senile, he went swimming & wanted to make me uncomfortable and started to flirt while in his sopping wet see through tidy whiteys- and of course I had to clean up the water he tracked through the lobby.

What's wrong with Cognizant interview panels and recruitment teams ? They scheduled interview anytime without taking any confirmation or discussion and then takes confirmation from candidates 3-4 times that he/she will be attending and candidate says yes they will attend and once they joined then noone join the meeting neither recruiter/HR nor interviewer . Aur toh aur confirm bhi nhi krte ya cancel nhi krte meeting agar panel available nhi hai toh. Seriously sick persons in this company.

Have any of you seen new grads/experienced hires get hired and require sponsorship from day 1? I'm applying (from Canada) and would prefer a US office since we'll be moving down for my spouse's schooling in a year and a half anyway. I've been putting a Canadian city on my applications just to make sure I'm authorized on one of the offices, but I would prefer not to do that since there is zero chance of staying in country.

I’m been an acute care RN, BSN since graduating- 13 years ago. I’m now interviewing for remote case management positions. While I’ve never held that title, specifically, I do feel inpatient / acute care RNs are involved in case management on the regular. Is this something you’d consider “experience” if so - how would you speak to that in comparison to the duties of a titled RN case manager? Thank you!

My hospital told us we were getting a 25% hourly increase but only gave us 8% but gave the whole amount to select departments because of their retention issues. Now it’s been 8 months and we still haven’t gotten it. I’ve spoken to our director and our director of nursing. We are being told they have no idea when we will get our raise. What can I do about it? Our HR is incompetent and could careless about any of us. I want to go to corporate about it.
