Unlimited PTO is a joke. It’s an excuse to not pay you if you leave and don’t use your days.
Allegedly. Good luck getting more than 15 days approved.
Fuck unlimited PTO.
I love it actually. I’m sure the intention was to save the company money but I know of a lot of people who are getting some good mileage with it. Work hard play hard
Started a new job a month or so ago. We don’t have unlimited PTO but I started w/ 25 days right out of the gate

We have it too and I love it. Only in the office 9 days in July. My team is really great about respecting everyone’s flexibility and we all make sure our own work is complete before unplugging.
If I ever need a mental health day (this week was especially tough with Kavanaugh hearing), my team would respect it and I would do the same for them. If there’s a last-minute family vacation or spontaneous friend trip, I don’t have to worry about work.
I’m planning on going back to Kenya for 2+ weeks in the spring, and that doesn’t include summer family time.
I know it’s cheaper than paying someone out when they leave, but it’s mutually beneficial for me because I’m not looking to leave any time soon
Can confirm FCB health has unlimited PTO. Even before unlimited they gave a healthy amount. I had about 24 plus holidays and 5 summer days
I have 4 weeks, 4 summer Fridays, paid holidays and Christmas week off. Plus 3 personal days. Rather have that
I hear FCB Health has this. Organic used to. Not sure if they still do though
Yeah I’d rather have the 22 days of PTO that many holding company agencies provide.
@IP1 I used at least 20 PTO days last year so unlimited works for me, but I see your point.
I'd be interested to know which places offer 20+ days. Most I see tend to be on the low end, ~12 which seems stingy.

72&S
Some people confuse number of vacation days with total number of PTO days. Vacation is part of Paid Time Off.
When I used to be at a place with unlimited vacation, I took 2 vacations per year each for 2 weeks so I had 20 vacation days. I was a lot more junior. It's actually harder to take off the more senior you get. If you're at a place with unlimited vacation offering, plan it well and take advantage. Complaining is useless and meaningless. Precisely because you can't be paid accrued but unused vacation when you quit, it encourages people to take time off which is critical for performance.
