NY attorneys: does anyone know how to remove yourself as the representative from a case on the NYSCEF site? (Left former firm and keep getting emails about the cases I previously consented to)

Had to do this recently. You have to email E-Courts saying you want to be removed - and you will need to list out the index numbers, court, and I think who you represented. You can’t just say “remove me from everything” unfortunately, unless they’ve changed the process the last few months.

I had to remove myself from ALL my cases when I changed firms and I was entered into a ton. You can email them about each case, but I chose to call and they took care of all of them at once, and were super pleasant and helpful.

How did you adjust to the document management system of your company after being at a law firm? I recently jumped in-house from 8+ years of biglaw and am flabbergasted at how this major public company’s legal department just throws everything into a shared drive, there are no versioning capabilities for documents, etc.

Let me tell all of you new joiners. If the relocation assistance is not mentioned in your offer letter, you are not eligible for relocation claim.
Recruiter might tell you that it is a default process in EY for people relocating from their current location to EY location, but after joining it might not be true, people will ask you for its mention in offer letter which they would not have given earlier.

A friend has failed the bar a few times, and it has so affected him that he decided he won’t try again. Fortunately he had a career prior to school and returned to it (with massive loan debt). I understand we are in a pandemic, but I can’t help but think of him every time I hear discussion of the diploma privilege bar admission alternative to the bar exam. Do you think this is the best alternative?

6th year of practice. I need to get out of insurance defense. Probably would prefer to be out of litigation in general. I also need to get out of south Florida/Florida in general because my salary is not great compared to the high cost of living in my city and I haven’t been able to find any other reasonable paying job. Been looking on and off for 5 years. Prospects are extremely poor. My question is: what are some good JD-preferred career paths or lateral opportunities I should explore?

I just got offered a job with a firm that has billable hour requirements. I’ve never had had billable hours. Is is appropriate to ask what the billable requirements are? I have a good idea from someone I know who works in a different department but want to confirm what they told me. They also provided vacation time of 3-5 weeks. I’m assuming that’s work weeks, but is that appropriate to ask for clarification? I don’t want them to think that’s all I care about, but these are important to me.

Texas biglaw: let’s name & shame firms who expect us to go back to the office five days a week with no hybrid model going forward.

Personally, I will continue to WFH twice a week despite my firm “strongly encouraging everyone to be in the office once vaccinated.” Wtf are they going to do? I’m an adult and if I’m billing my hours, it shouldn’t matter.

So let’s name, shame, & make it clear to these firms and their boomer management that we will not go back to the pre-Covid miserable grind.
