I am a level expert people watcher and conversation overhearer.
Absolutely. A 30 min lunch time walk will take you to so many places around the world. Hard not to feel that exhilaration.
Central Park. Several studies prove that nature enhances creativity.
I try to keep up with museum exhibits and go to the indie movie houses like Film Forum, or just walk around/take yourself out for a drink or dinner and strike up a conversation with the bartender. I know I could be doing more since you can pretty much go see a Broadway show or jazz at Lincoln Center anytime.
I could do better about going to museums, concerts, events. Great suggestions! ๐ ๐๐ก
Museums get old really quick. I walk to work really early when the streets aren't full of tourists. I go to the comedy cellar and see Aziz do a surprise set to try a bit that the crowd doesn't laugh at. I see Paul Haggis, Julie Ann Moore, Judd Apatow, and other famous people just going about their day. Fuck sight seeing. Just walk on the streets and you'll see something different every day. But here's the thing: none of this is a need to "find" inspiration. It's just you living here. And when you live here, inspiration finds you.
I walk half way home. (30ish minutes) the architecture, the people, the sounds, the accents. I love it.
The Met.
Streaking through the quad.
People watching for sure. Checking out architecture and street art. Taking a long winding walk through a neighborhood I don't know.

You can find inspiration in the most mundane things in NY- like watching a couple interact with each other in the subway (can be pretty amusing) or sitting on the Met steps and watch the hip hop street dancers, to the changing colors of the seasons at Central Park to just walking through different neighborhoods...
