NYC F associate here. I haven't seen any female partners in my group actually come into the office in recent months so I genuinely don't know who to ask. For an institutional client meeting, is a black sheath dress with 1.5" black or nude heels and either beige or black blazer acceptable? Also what color combinations work best? I legit don't fit into my suits anymore so I'm hoping that's sufficient but wanted to make sure biz casual wasn't too casual.
I wore things similar to this when I attended court and was fine. You can always throw on some tights to up the conservative vibe.

I’m sure this is fine. Sheath dresses with blazers or classic cut cardigans are a staple. All black is more formal, but for a client meeting you could probably get away with any of these options.
Any of these combos sound fine to me with a couple of caveats:
- If the material of the black blazer is really similar (but not identical) to the dress, wear the beige one instead. When doing two pieces like that of the same color, you want them to look intentionally different rather than like you were trying to “fake” a suit.
- If either of the blazers have super trendy elements (e.g., super oversized/boxy cut, those weird bracelet length sleeves that never looked intentional on anyone, etc.), opt for the other one.

Thank you so much, the additional tidbits are extremely helpful to keep in mind generally. There are legit so few women left in my practice group so I didn't know who to ask.
