Objective or summary sections - yay or nay? Resume will be referred to HR by a firm partner I met. Trying to get into mgmt consulting.

As a recruiter, having an objective/summary isn’t as important in my opinion as long as your resume can speak for you

like

If they have a lot of experience, the summary section may highlight the most relevant one

You could do without either, and it would be okay. It’s really the bullet points listing your accomplishments that matter.

like

If you are trying to pivot from what your experience demonstrates (on your resume) then include an objective. If not no need - your work should speak for self. Summary? Meh

like

Summary section - yes, objective - no

Summary - yay, objective - nay

This is especially true for those recruiters who only look at resumes for 7 seconds before crumpling up resumes or clicking the reject button (I'm not joking, people actually researched that it only takes recruiters 7 seconds to decide who to move to the interview stage.) That means a lot of people who get their hands on your resume probably won't even get to your career experience section.

To appeal to these recruiters, you need a quick summary of your career and skills that will fit in those magical 7 seconds. Objectives are better suited for interviews where you can delve deeper into the whys and hows of your career.

Of course, all of this discussion won't make sense if recruiters actually read your whole resume but if you're asking me to choose just between these two; summaries, definitely summaries.

So my company after weeks of 12hr days putting together multiple proposals for new benefits decided to slash benefits to $300/per employee/family across medical-dental-vision. We are in the tech industry as a startup trying to recruit talent and I advised against it. Turnover is 140% for 2022. After this choice any health insurance is too expensive and I only make $90k (2nd lowest paid) so looking to leave ASAP. Any suggestions or referrals? The owners of our company like to do a holiday handout at Thanksgiving each year. They used to do a whole Thanksgiving meal (turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, pie). Last year there was a lack of available turkeys in the quantity we needed, so we switched it up and did a bottle of sparkling cider with a $25 gift card. This year the owners want to do something different but they are not sure what. Does anyone have any suggestions? We have about 300 employees in one location. Thanks!!

Considering a change from a smaller tech company to a huge tech organization (think Intel, Oracle, Salesforce, Microsoft, etc.). I’m attracted to the idea of working with more structure and having others around me to learn from and share knowledge with. Right now I’m the only one at my company with my specific expertise and worry my learning and growth is being stalled because of it. Any advice from those working at these tech behemoths on taking that plunge?
