From my vantage point the critical analysis has come from those who are questioning BLM or systemic racism. Anyone attempting to offer an alternative POV or share data is immediately labeled as racist, bigoted, stupid, redneck, close minded, a-hole... without any attempt to discuss the merit of the arguement or provide valid counterpoint that are more than "you don't get it".

I particularly love how when someone posts actual data or statistics people tend to attack the person or find some minor flaw in the data rather than offering alternative data to refute the POV. In a battle between facts and emotion, emotion always wins.

MD1 and I’m pointing out that it’s absurd to think you can ask 5 whys of one parent families, poor financial choices, inner city crime, etc and come to the conclusion of “whites people”.

A larger issue with our society right now being pushed by progressives is the complete lack of personal responsibility. Rather than looking inward and asking “what can I do to change”, people immediately look outward and ask “who can I blame?” This is not just a black people thing, this applies to everyone. For example, in schools when a student is doing bad it MUST be the fault of the teacher and/or the school itself. Forget that the child (and this could apply to any race) is a problem child that refuses to do their homework or behaves badly in the classroom. Forget that the parents of the children (again any race) don’t give a shit and don’t help the child or discipline them in any way. No, the teacher/school are responsible. I grew up in a poor area and saw this all the time from my white classmates. And this attitude by progressives actually REWARDED bad behavior because the students knew they could get away with whatever they wanted.

McK1 and I believe EY3 already mentioned this earlier that bad behavior and choices are actually being incentivized rather than corrected. That leads to a negative feedback loop.

Anyone that is bother by OP message, Why does it bother you?

He’s pointing an observation, does it feel like a personal attack to you? Why is that?

Cause the message that is coming through is pretty clear

If you practiced inference in your day to day life, you would recognize the correlation between people using certain linguistic patterns, and those same people justifying those patterns with reprehensible views about racial realism. That, and the sentence written was false anyway.

Does thinking critically include, in your opinion, skepticism of the narrative that police murdering minorities is endemic in this country? Because the data doesn’t really bear that out. Not that any single instance is ever excusable, but an objective and impartial look at the data is pretty clear.

It does play like a bit, I agree. MadTV-esq.

Man you have dedicated a lot of time to this thread my dude

OP, the argumentative and rude way you’re trying to shut down everyone who comments without addressing their comment is not going to generate a productive discussion, nor further your cause. By the way, I support BLM and everyone educating themselves on anti-racism, so I was ready to be on your side until I read this thread.

I’m misrepresenting the movement by... responding to antagonistic statements pointedly? Also, consider this entire app alienates Black people every day by being racist despite a thin veneer of gentility. It’s actually an open secret.

So, to recap: I made a post about how white folks demonstrate racism by not engaging the topic of racism seriously [not reading, not listening or thinking critically] and so many of y’all come on here loudly proving my point. Wild.

Not trying to persuade lazy, racist and dumb people. You for example, poorly perhaps even purposely mistranslating my post.

Just because I believe in things that support racism I’m suddenly a racist???? wOw.

I don’t think this is worded correctly. If so, then “believing in things that support racism” is racist.

So according to this line of thinking, Larry Elder and Thomas Sowell are racist against black people?

Look I wish we could have a non human species run the numbers so we could have an objective view.

But this religious language that groups, absolves, and condemns is dangerous. This is why we have separation of church and state. Unfortunately nobody could have predicted so many secular religions popping up

"Do some research, but any research or statistics that disagree with me don't count and make you even more ignorant than not reading at all."

People who can't form effective arguments love using "critical thinking" and "agreeing with me" interchangeably.

You might need to check the meaning of the word racist if you think it contains "any time someone doesn't read a link I posted on social media".

Data is just data. Both sides of the argument cultivate data to support their agreement.

There were studies supporting that global warming is a hoax. Do you think the data supporting that should be given just as much credibility?

Mark Twain once said, “There are 3 kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.” I think this can be applied to both sides of this argument. That said, I believe there is plenty of anecdotal evidence of systematic racism, especially in policing (e.g. mall cops following black kids through grocery stores, wealthy black people being questioned for being in a nice car/neighborhood that they own/live in, black people being pulled over and having their car searched without probable cause). There’s also massive issues with the legal & prison system in that racial bias (through individuals that have racial bias) can leak in in any number of ways.

The problem is that when people say “systematic racism” people want to think “in order for it to be systematic, EVERYONE has to be a racist, and I am not a racist. I have black friends.” And that’s just not true. If enough people in the right places are even minimally racist, the system can easily swing to have a racial bias, and that’s an issue.

Asking for a friend:
My friend received two job offers for Account Executive roles: a Mid-Market role with Confluent and an Enterprise role with ThoughtSpot. He’s conflicted because Confluent is a more established company, ThoughtSpot is Pre-IPO. Confluent is a lucrative product to sell and has established SDR reps so there’s a good blend of inbound and outbound sales. Thoughtspot is more of a startup culture where most of the sales comes from outbound and it’s a tougher sell.

I'm a EE Systems Design Engineer at Boeing with 2.5 YOE at my current position. Currently making 74k in the Midwest; however with the current environment I feel severely undervalued.

The company is very legacy-based and not very fast moving. Along with the push to WFH and much increased pay elsewhere, would anyone here recommend other companies they would pivot to?

Let me know if you are open to providing a recommendation as well if you or your company is hiring.

Thank you everyone!
