Comparisons can be useful tools to help us understand new things, but like all tools, they can be dangerous if used improperly or without acknowledging their limitations. Because A is *like* B does not mean that A is *equal to* B.

SC1 to me it is the American anti-intellectual strain and reward of attention for being ignorant and loud that run through the culture. And, to be fair, the deep resentment for the hypocrisy of the elite and powerful who always have one set of rules for themselves and another for the masses. Calling out hypocrisy seems like a national pastime now. The problem I see is that many people cannot concede that their casual opinions don’t have a good basis of fact or evidence. This happens well before we get to raging about differences in deep moral values that won’t be reconciled easily.

A vessel is an object that a human being shouldn’t be compared to without bringing in unnecessary stigma. A woman certainly HAS a vessel. It’s called a uterus. Just like a fetus should not be referred to as a parasite. And whatever is happening inside a person’s body is never simple, given the complexity of biological processes.

Is this for real or are you mocking crazy crowd?

Need advice. My sons have kids ATV things. More hard core than a power wheels but not true ATV (they go 8 mph I think). My kids were riding in our culdesac with husband watching. Husband and oldest came inside for a few minutes and in that time, neighbors tiny 4yo jumped on his and crashed on our driveway. Broke her arm. 😩 We would never have allowed her to ride and her parents NEVER supervise when she’s outside. Are we dicks for not offering to cover some/all of medical bills? I don’t feel

Hey friends - I’m currently on a brief medical leave (~1 month) and my management has been contacting me quite regularly by phone and email without notice for different documentation and admin processes relating to the leave. It’s basically taking up as much time as my regular work. Not sure what is reasonable here as I would really like to focus on healing and just deal with it when I’m back…isn’t that the point? What are my rights here?

I have a standing offer with Accenture (AFS). Due to coronavirus, the recruiter told me they are pausing staffing of external people like myself while they take care of internal people on the bench. My recruiter said he would touch base monthly during covid, but usually I’m the one to reach out to him. We haven’t spoken since mid March, so should I reach out? I totally understand if they’re still in the same position as before and nothing changed since mid March in terms of hiring.
