Conventional wisdom on current firm counter-offering when mentioning you have a few offers? I have an offer at a large firm in Miami. Current large firm has no office there but mentioned they can likely let me be there in a remote basis. BCG and a few other law blog sites have advised against accepting current firm counter-offers, e.g., likely to leave, not loyal, off partner track, etc., but would love to hear everyone’s thoughts.

Have any 🐠 in the Boston area tried home-schooling? Our son goes to a private school and with COVID likely to impact schools into next year, we don’t want to pay the high-tuition fee if he is going to be home for a good chunk of time. Full disclosure : we are not religious, the public school in our town is not that good, and we are not in a position to switch houses or towns for the next 2-3 years. Also, S/O wants to stay-home for the next 2 years and I can work remote 2-3 days a week (cont.)

I have an offer from Walmart for a Senior Software Engineer role. Its going to be in supply chain division, but I have not been provided any details about team, tech stack etc. Is it safe to accept the offer? Heard that many teams in supply chain run on an outdated tech stack.. Is that so?

Imagine you're looking for a remote job at a large company with a sophisticated marketing function, strong manager, and room for growth. Making good traction, but then you're contacted by a company in a niche that FASCINATES you...like you read books about this subject for fun, you'd probably love this job. It's remote, the salary is good, the manager is nice, but you'd be the most senior marketing person; the company is about 200 people. What would you do?

Recommendations for firms to look into in South FL? I'm in Ft. Lauderdale but am open to Boca or Miami. I'm a first year associate in ID (coverage issues) but really would prefer transactional work. More importantly though, I'm looking for companies who pay relatively well (doesn't necessarily have to be market), are open to remote/hybrid work, aren't sweatshops. I'd settle for insurance work if theres good WLB & $$$ lol

People keep mentioning that they like wfh or don’t like wfh and debating whether it should be permanent or not, and the whole time all I can think about is how I’ve spent way too much money on suits and other work clothes to end up never using them again 🙄😭

I got interviewed in February 2022 in Oracle and selected for writer role. Submitted documents for BGV and HR confirmed BGV was successful. My offer letter was pending for VP approval and suddenly there was a position freeze until May 3rd week as Oracle was acquiring another company. Recently I called HR and he said that he will update me in June 2nd week. What are the chances of getting the offer?
