If you like your team that much and I’m guessing they like you too, perhaps you could use the Deloitte offer to negotiate a raise at ACN? I know seems it’s an obvious statement but still.
You could come to Deloitte and it might take you a long while to find a team/work you like (or it may not) but is that 40% worth it if you can negotiate for a decent amount at ACN (if ACN indulges your negotiation)?
Why fix something that isn’t broken? I personally like what I’m currently doing at Deloitte and it took me years to find it. These are the questions I ask myself now when I think about applying for jobs offering mad raises to my current base.
If you read the negativity OP it’s compensation related which is causing all the angst. Compensation is very important and that exaggerates everything else folks are feeling. If pay is increased some opinions might change. We are not that bad, we are all fun loving, hard working folks.
We just like to say sometimes that we work for a firm harder to get into than Harvard 😉

A 40% increase is huge. Outweighs the negatives

If Deloitte had paid me even close to what S& had offered me, I would have stayed. Good place once you find your crew. Too bad they’re trying to be the next Accenture (sorry Accenture folks).
I’d take it. You can always leave once your pay drops
Hold on a14. That’s not Accenture’s value prop that Deloitte is trying to copy. The covid call center operations you’re thinking of is not great for Accenture - low margins and lower morale. Our operations value prop comes from our extensive outsourcing around the world. We run back office for so many companies it’s absurd. We do s&c work to map out the outsourcing opp, then generate income for years to come. Deloitte wants to get in that game.
Why are you asking this question? Gtfo and enjoy your new career at Deloitte. Accenture is as toxic as I’ve ever seen in my career.

I spent a hot minute at TCS and can confirm Accenture is more like TCS than I thought possible. Disappointing...

Accenture is countering a lot of external offers right now so you might as well be open with your CC and/or HR about it at this point.
Worst case is Accenture says buh bye, and you take the offer at Deloitte. Best case is Accenture matches or beats, and you get to stay.
Accenture 5, if I pursue the "I really love it here but am finding it hard to ignore the disparity in the market" route, how can I avoid getting negatively impacted, assuming my CC/practice lead doesn't take it well. Lol
I haven't looked for jobs yet but I know the market is paying at least 50k more for my skillset.

Oh I like working here a lot. I would stick around longer if they payed me more... but they don’t!
How long have you been with Deloitte?
Which level are you at in Accenture and what level is the offer for in deloitte
OP - this thread is a classic example of what to expect at D.
D12 is a great example and has shown immensely through their point of view on the culture at D. You are either right or wrong… there can’t be middle ground. Leadership will promote those that can make things a right or wrong vs. what the actual answer can be - something different than a right or wrong!!
For those thinking, comm’on dude this is consulting, you have to always be right in a peer group - all I’d say is I’m sorry for you.
Last OP, choose wisely. Experienced hires developing a network at D is hard. We have closed groups in practices and only the select few are truly sponsored by leadership. Rest are money making pegs in the wheel. You run out of useful life they will systematically push you out. To get promoted at higher levels (SM and beyond) you need a strong network which takes time to build and remember there are people here who have been here longer than you have been.
All the best OP. Presenting facts here so you come to your own conclusion and live with the consequences of that decision without regrets. It’s your life!!!
I’d go for it you can always boomerang back. Last month Deloitte only offered me a 7% increase which was BS when you factored in the other benefits Accenture provides
Yeah but if you intern you cut off a year
Same, I like Accenture team and the only thing is the pay is just tiny. I'm so tempted to accept the offers from other firms that gives like 50% bump. I wish Accenture can just pay people fair rate.
Yeah but then you’re in seattle ^
D is actually pretty great to be honest. Yes you see people complain here bc that’s what the app is for. I only left to EY bc they poached me for a 100% raise. Being underpaid is really the only major compliant I had about D, but every homegrown consultant is gonna be underpaid, it’s not just a D thing
100% raise!? Please provide some details
Yup, not a D fan but this is one of the worth it scenarios
Sheeeeeeiiiit. I say do it. Boomerang back to ACN if the culture isn’t a fit. At least you’ll have locked in that comp.
Pro
Please... jump ship and take the pay jump. If you still miss Accenture in 2 years boomerang back for even more. Of course, still keep your relationships with your people at ACN to help this happen!
Deloitte is bringing you in at 185 as manager? Is that a joke? Do you have an MBA?
D12 how many yoe did you have at matriculation?
I mean it's a restart to build your network unless you feel you dont have traction with leadership. If it's a bad environment not worth being miserable when you are happy here. Can ACN counter?
This ^^
Take it from someone who was happy at ACN and came to D - lateral move
Worst decision and miserable as hell
Bunch of egos with their pet SMs cheating their way just because they know the right people. Stealing other people’s ideas and work and branding as their own… pathetic at best
Think these over carefully before jumping ship.
Best bet for you might be for them to counter the offer and you stay with your network.
I feel like the biggest complaint at D is the pay so I would definitely go for it. As another commenter mentioned, just know you’ll be on the high end of the band and therefore might get smaller raises
Very much depends on your level /location/specialization... ACN usually pays better in total at C+ levels if you have good perf. and relevant skills. so you can be better off waiting for promo and working with the team you love.
Then I’d calculate total comp /package at both. if it is genuinely a major jump, it’s worth giving ACN a chance to match and if they choose not to - join D without questions. People are good, project a are same. You can always come back ... I’ve heard
40% is life changing. You should do it.
$ outweigh everything pretty much always
But you will hate Deloitte. I know too many that work there or worked there in the past. Some people do great there. But all the worst things you hear about Deloitte are true too.
So, take the fancy big pay raise. It will impact your life and look good on your resume.
Just plan to boomerang back in 2 years with a bigger raise to regain your humanity.
Agreed... this ☝️
