12/30 Thread (BC):
Be like Bran
Mentor
Boutique- Money talks and Accenture always want you every year
At D it might take you 2 years to make a manager and the salary wouldn’t increase dramatically you are leaving 120k on the table just for a brand
Would you go back to an ex who dropped you without a second thought and then is begging for you back after you find another hot amazing partner?
I agree with AA1. I wouldn’t go back to my ex employer at any cost! Wait to hear back from S&. Then, decide accordingly :) Good luck! Make a wise and a logical decision
I don’t know why you’d give up 70k for a firm that laid you off
@Author - D is lengthening the levels and our comp is not exactly impressive. Great firm if you are at the planning for kids stage (benefits and flexibility are great - the firm does walk the walk on this), but if you are trying to maximize your paycheck and progression, not so much.
Boutique
Why? You think if I go back to ACN or Deloitte My exit will look like 210?
How were you getting paid 140k with 3 YOE? How is Deloitte offering you 170k comp with 3 YOE?
Genuinely curious as I’ve never seen those numbers with that tenure
This is a dumb hill to die on. This is what our strat pays and is a well-known/understood figure.

I legitimately think joining a company “because of the exits” is profoundly incorrect. I hear this so often- do you really think FAANG will admire the 2 years you spent hating your job at an accounting firm?

I hear ya…. As context I have roughly 2-3 consultants reach out every week for msft roles. The refrain is “I gained some great experience leading projects, but want better culture/wlb / innocence in tech.”
For many it resonates. But its a super crowded lane. I can literally close my eyes and see the newly minted deloitte manager resume who does IT operating models.
Go to Boutique T2 , forget Accenture, u only go to Accenture if u don't have other job,
Oh wow, strong sentiment here. Why is that? And do you think Deloitte is better than ACN? I remember WLB was not too bad at ACN.
T2 clearly 👍 good stuff, glad you‘re having the choice between several good options
Which T2 are you talking about? In terms of comp the boutique seems great, but there are also those well know cons.
I'd take the boutique firm over ACN and Deloitte, but would consider a lot more Oliver/Kearney
Thank you all for your help!
Follow the money
Manager with 3 YOE??? Hmmm 🤔
Play your cards right.
Go boutique and reevaluate after a year or two.
How were you laid off as an analyst?
They picked my name out of a hat…. Seriously I dont know.
Unless you KNOW you’re being pulled into a strong strategy group at D, you’ll likely be thrown to the PMO land. If you know you have good work at these boutiques go with them. As someone else said, D and A will always hire you back
I was referred by one of the top dogs so I know I am. But good things to think about.

It’s a hot market right now. If I were you Id try for MBB well. Going back as a consultant to ACN, IF you were happy before could make sense. They will likely match any other offer you get, I’d push for C2.
Tried MBB, specifically McKinsey, didn’t make it past the phone screen. They guy that interviewed me was doing other stuff, I could bearly hear him, it was a nightmare. And I thought I still passed but I had to clarify a million times because he had me on speaker. It was ridiculous.
It’s unlikely S& would bring you in at ~$170k. That’s currently our SA2 salary and requires either an MBA or ~5 YOE internally (I imagine more externally).
If you do get the S& offer, I would take it. Be prepared to grind though. My life at ACN was significantly easier WLB-wise.
