I'm 33yo, 220k TC, work in US on a visa and have been investing for 1.5 yrs. I max out my 401k, invest 40% of my pay per month mostly in ETFs, and have some money in HSA. The goal is to get to 43y with 2M (and hopefully a green card from the US govt). However, the current investment levels aren't getting me there.. there's about 1M gap between where i want to be and where I realistically would be in 10y. Any ideas on how to bridge this gap other than increasing investment levels to 75+% / paych?

Just finished my first year in big law. In a niche practice area that could transfer well to in house position if they are looking for someone specializing in this area (many of our clients are GCs in this exact role), however I worry those jobs may not be abundant. Junior associate looking for advice. I was handling a small claims case pretty much on my own (partner copied on emails but didn’t really do anything). We settled the case the day before the hearing. Several weeks later, plaintiff’s lawyer sent me a release his client would sign after receipt of funds. I screwed up and agreed to this (payment before signed release) because the case had already been dismissed. Now I can’t get ahold of him to get the signed release. Am I screwed? What should I do?

Lateraled as a first year about 6 weeks ago. I’ve only been hitting a max of 30ish billable hours since orientation ended. I’m staffed on a handful of deals, but the work isn’t that heavy. Partner keeps saying there’s tons of work to go around, but none of it is flowing to me. I’m nervous about asking for more work in case the deals I’m already on pick up the next couple of weeks. Should I ask for more work? Should I be concerned about hitting the yearly billable/qualifying for year end bonus?
