Spent 4+ years as CMO of startup company. It was an incredible learning experience but also a very difficult uphill battle trying to steer the owners and the company in the right direction. I’ve just exited the company as of 11/18. I think you have completely misunderstood how the hiring process works. Their approval of an offer has nothing to do with your approval. You can still counter. So, yes, I can see how now they would be upset with you. You should have simply stated your reservations again rather than erupted.
Act as if you’ve accepted the outcome and focus all of your energy on finding a new job. Any employer that resents you for advocating for yourself believes that they should hold all of the power in the relationship. Show them that they don’t by moving on to a better opportunity.
