Take it
Take it. Unless you have significant family obligations that would prevent you from going.
Yes
I would take it. Helps you put global experience on the profile
Goooooo!!!
Manager or below, take it. You would have international experience on your CV.
Take it!! Could be super fun.
Go!
Is this like a transfer or a international assignment? On IA you get fly backs every 2 months and per diem while you are there and a corporate apt. But if it's a transfer you could potentially take the hit financially so be sure to understand that. Also look into how the taxes would work and benefits and all that. Australia doesn't have employee benefits so pretty sure it's an out of pocket expense
I looked into it last year when I was told by a SM at St Charles that they had huge demand for supply chain consultants. By the time I looked though it was all Change Management garbage and they didn't even consider me. Would've loved to do it for a couple years.
Go now
Go
Australians are the best! You will love. I spent 6 months there. Miss it all the time
OP, ensure that you and the MD understand how this role benefits you and your practice/the account. You're going to be geographically separated, so you need to make sure you have someone to vouch for you in the geo/group that impacts your career. Agree to check-ins throughout the year so that you aren't forgotten
I disagree with PwC1. If you go you most likely have to stick it out for the year even if it sucks. Coming back midway wouldn't be great for your career. That being said make sure it's an opportunity you actually want to pursue before accepting
Sydney is Underrated
Thank you all for the great feedback! One wedding is all I would need to come back for in November. I know I have to stick it out for at least year. I'm leaning towards it.
When I meet with my MD on Monday, what should I be asking? Cost of living increase, promotion track, bonus, relocation, etc.
Is this really even a question? It's Sydney.
@4 - that's really great information! To my knowledge this would be an International Assignment, because I would be returning to the USA in a year.
@7 - I don't know. I'm from Philly.
Thanks for all of your input and advice! Expecting the offer to come this week!
