Just got a scheduled call with HR and also NYM—guessing this is the topic. Some cities are already toying with the idea of shutting back down. I’d be hesitant to say this is going to pan out.
Yes, I agree this is pre-mature. I think there is going to be a second lockdown.

We’ve committed firm-wide to Labor Day openings at the earliest. Interesting to see variance between firms

Lmao dammit D2, beat me to it
Move to the suburbs. Less congestion, lower cost of living, less risk of catching Covid.
There are plenty of places in NJ/LI that are commuter friendly, have decent bars/restaurants, and adequate supply of apartments.
Bonus, no roommate if single since prices drastically lower in the burbs.

Well I guess you can always look for work outside NYC or just move to a nyc suburb.
KPMG hasn’t reopened but they did say that no one has to do anything they’re not comfortable with (i.e. even when travel resumes, offices reopen, etc. you still don’t have to go unless it’s within your personal risk tolerance). I imagine other firms will take a similar stance
Can you make a case to HR? I wouldn’t be ok taking the subway by July. We’re phasing our re-opening approach pretty carefully and will be highly discouraged to come in unless absolutely necessary- think it would be a bad look for companies like ours to force employees to return at the risk of getting covid, especially in a city like NY.
Is it the old or new Hudson yards office that is opening?
Lol touché but people are also losing their minds in their apartments, or is it just me
Leadership shouldn't be forcing people back to work who feel uncomfortable and / or have pre-existing conditions. Communicate your hesitancy as long as you don't feel that there will be pushback. If there is, then you can always come to Deloitte and join the #1 Talent Experience.
OP “I’d prefer to not resign in the city”
Did you mean reside? Or are you concerned about resigning in NYC? If so, you can do that remotely.
I think OP means resign their lease
I bet they would offer alternatives for people not comfortable with traveling to the office, even if open
