OP - I beg to differ and offer this up.... 1) Personal Assistants 2) Finance/expense police 3) partners 4) Interns.... Then the rest of your list is complete :)

likefunnysmart

Exactly. When I was an assistant, my partner would say in response to ANY request for his time: “you’ll have to ask [insert my name]. She’s the boss.” Client meetings. Internal meetings. Travel. PML meetings. It didn’t matter. And if you were a dick to me, especially if the meeting was internal/career advice related your meeting was just pushed. Indefinitely. Ain’t no body got time for people who can’t respect assistants. Especially assistants.

Partners are just seniors that lasted longer than all their other senior friends. Seniors provide the most value relative to their cost, e.g., do 2 million dollars worth of work on engagement for 150,000 cost in 2 seniors’ salaries. Highest turnover because they know they’re getting the squeeze.

Being an intern was the most love and support I received working here.

Ah you forgot HR - they are near the top and think they are the top but agree on the expense and billing Nazis

like

Lol literally no one cares about HR

like

these are very good points about expense and billing people. I’ve worked at 3 big 4 and can confirm the billing people are insane and all three 😂. Can’t stand when they passive-aggressively CC your senior/supervisor

likefunny

Not just the big 4 either

like

GDS (India admins) just do whatever they want and take as long as they want. Then you (staff or senior) have to do the admin work yourself later anyway

like

THEY’RE THE WORST. I say in comments I’m meal averaging and I have one breakfast that’s $16 and the rest $5 and it takes two weeks and they send it back saying it won’t fly.

like

You forgot the Billy Beane ‘50ft of crap’ between associates and senior associates 😭

like

I don’t get the joke....why are interns listed right behind Partners?

like

Ah but we’re all playing the same game so we need to impress - a few busy season interns are here long enough (at least hour wise) to really help out - summer interns are generally worthless Plus winter interns have a leg up when they start their real job

Executive assistants just under partner. Good luck trying to get in front of partners for sit downs as an associate, senior associate and manager without making nice with their admins. I know, I was one.

KPMG 1 is correct - the firms generally makes the most money on seniors and junior managers

Hey all, I’m at B-school and trying to make a decision. My goal is MBB, unfortunately struck out after receiving 3 interviews for internship. I did however land Kearney. Need to decide if I should accept or recruit outside consulting. My plan is to rerecruit in the fall regardless. My issue point is that I’m sponsored by Deloitte and accepting will invalidate my sponsorship. Is Kearney that much better than Deloitte where it’s worth it? Or should I try a new industry

This may be a hot take - but as a younger person, working with parents of small kids (especially new parents) is so frustrating. I frequently find myself responsible for picking up the slack due to their family commitments - it’s also somehow completely socially acceptable for kids to barge into zoom meetings screaming. I wouldn’t find it nearly as bothersome if I felt like leadership and parent colleagues took my issues and non work commitments seriously in addition to that of parents and kids

What salary did you find that you no longer had to worry about money? Basically you didn't have to think twice about buying something you want For reference, currently make 135k in a T2 city but am the sole earner for my family and also have 1200/month in student loans, so still feel like I'm not there yet.
