OK I need some advice, I got an offer for 65k + $5k annual targeted bonus. In the interview process, I stated at least 70k was my desired salary. The lady said that makes sense this isn’t an entry level position and seems like if we get you to 70k you’re more likely to accept. (But I was even thinking of negotiating to 75k once I received my offer). Clearly they didn’t even offer me the 70k. How can I approach this now? I want at least 70, but what should I say to make this happen? Thoughts?

Reiterate your desired salary. If you only maxed that at $70k, they may try to meet you somewhere between $65 and $70, but I wouldn't back off of your negotiation just yet.

Tell them you have another offer for 75k base. And ask if they can match it. Worst case scenario, they say no. But they’re not going to rescind your offer just for asking.

Does anyone have experience leaving their firm and using the pension benefit to negotiate with the new company? I’m not vested and will receive an offer from industry (company doesn’t have a pension plan). Curious to hear what others have done. My pension wouldn’t be huge but it’s a decent chunk of money to walk away from. What are some things that have worked? Additional sign-on bonus, bigger stock grants, etc. Thanks.

Hi all - question about the presentation of black men’s hair. During the pandemic I’ve grown out my hair to the point that every few weeks I get them twisted, and they look fairly neat (like short dreadlocks). I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing so if I haven’t already garnered the respect of my colleagues at my firm from the partner to the associate level. Now that I’m considering making a move, I feel as if I need to revert back to how my hair was when I first joined the firm - the traditional

It’s much more than what I’m making now, but I thought it would be smart to run this by you all before signing the dotted line. This would be my first time as a marketing coordinator—I’m bringing in 5+ years from an adjacent industry to the table, if that gives perspective. WDYT? Thank you!
