Ok I’ve always wondered this but have been too afraid to ask... my fellow women who run— how are you running marathons in shorts??? I feel like I see all my runner friends in shorts on race day and all I can think about is the chafing. Are y’all just so well toned your thighs don’t rub?? I need answers

Body glide!!!!! Also 5” spandex/bike shorts work wonders. Check out janji, they’ve got some great bike shorts that stay in place

like

I don’t. I’d rather be hot AF and wear capri leggings than run in shorts. My thighs have always been thick, even if I’m “in shape,” and the chafing is too much for me. Bump that noise.

Body glide works wonders. Also works on other areas where chaffing can occur (like on the chest area, if you know what I mean).

Trislide is way better than bodyglide. I run ultras in shorts too and it holds up very well.

I used to use body glide but have transitioned to Squirrel’s Nut Butter, as I’ve found it more effective for me. I live in the heat and humidity, and even with temps as low as the 40s, I’m generally most comfortable in shorts. You could also try some of the longer shorts. I have pairs where I know I’m more prone to chafing than others, but for longer runs I love, love, love Oiselle’s Pocket Joggers, as they’re long enough that they cover my typical chafe spots, and obviously also have great pockets.

Genetically my thighs don’t touch when I’m running (thank you Mom!) so it’s not because I’m so well-toned... but a runner friend of mine uses body glide and has nothing but great things to say!!

I wear shorts that have spandex attached underneath them. No chafing! So you can see a bit of spandex coming out but there are actual shorts on top because I Don’t feel comfortable just in spandex

Thanks!

Hey all, any recommendations for soothing, rich moisturizers (or other products) that address redness and irritation? I use retinol a few times a week and find that sometimes it causes redness and flaking. I try all the things: spacing it out more, sandwiching it between layers of moisturizer, etc. Currently I use Tower 28’s SOS serum and kiehl's ultra facial cream. Both are nice but wondering if there is some super product that can really soothe my face.
