Any insight on Colliers ME strategy/implementation consulting practice?
Is it a career dead-end if I want to transition to a larger firm in the future? They seem to be growing really fast, so I feel like there’s room for quick growth and career advancement, based on some conversations I’ve had, but I don’t wanna shoot myself in the foot long term. Also heard lots of MBB and other tier 1/tier 2 firms are contracting them for parts of their engagements. Thoughts? Colliers International

I’m running an indie advertising company with no backers or investors at all; we can’t afford senior or talented people because of this. The objective is to keep my company free to make brave choices without the burden of responsibilities to the investors or networks. I want to achieve what Wieden + Kennedy has achieved. Any tips or suggestion on what is the important things I should do to make my little shop can have the same badassery as W+K?
From the sound of your question, it sounds like you’ve already made up your mind, but I’ll provide some insight for anyone who may be interested.
End of day, like any agency, it’s gonna depend on what team you’re on. I’ve seen some teams compete with the likes of Wieden and GUT for earned PR work, create big commercials, and drive campaigns. I’ve seen some teams serve as a money saver and be tasked with simply doing digital and social.
I really enjoy the people here and think there’s a lot of smart, talented creatives who could easily be successful at other big name agencies. Could certainly use more strategists and, well, strategy when rolling out campaigns, but I’d say the in-house agency is doing pretty damn good for being less than 5 years old.
I’m sure there’s people who have had poor experiences. It’s not Wieden, but it certainly shouldn’t be getting Vayner-level hate on this app (not hating on Vayner, but damn do people hate it)
