Through work I’ve just personally gotten so accustomed to pc keyboard layout and function that I hate using Macs to do any real level of work beyond stupid personal stuff, but for some reason always feel gravitated to the new and shiny macs...am I that much of a label whore? 😭
Sorry OP I started this post with the intention of helping but it turned into venting real quick lol
A few classes will require excel add ons which won’t work natively on iOS. You can mirror Windows on a Mac or you can use a school machine in the IT lab if you don’t care heavily or want to actively stay in Max ecosystem.
Honestly, if you’re 50/50, just go with Windows and explore Mac as a personal computer the next time you buy a laptop. And this is coming from a strong mac user.
Going to Kellogg as well. They suggest Windows bc there are applications you’ll need to download specially for that OS but you always have the option of getting Parallels set up on your Mac
EY1 no, I ran parallels and it sucked
Graduated from Kellogg a year ago, can’t think of many (or any?) programs that needed Windows. At least 20-30% of people had macs.
One thing to keep in mind is that most professors don’t allow laptops in class unless they have a lay flat mode. If you go with a Mac, you’d need an iPad with pencil if you want to take notes.
In my observation, 60-70% use a PC with touchscreen (Surface, Lenovo, etc) or a tablet. The rest write notes by hand. Professors put up slides in advance so you can print before class and many will bring printouts to class as well.
Following—in the same boat, going to Kellogg in the fall and leaning Mac over x1c bc of battery life, but worried about compatibility
