Ahh, to be an analyst again.

They’re the worst especially this one girl who doesn’t get in until 9:45 am and then keeps constantly reminding people she stays past 7. She asked me loudly if I was going home already at 6:00 pm. Like I get here an hour before you because I’m just trying to do my work and go home. I don’t wait to get here until 30 minutes before partners do just to be seen
Lol… I just got off a Teams call with another attorney colleague and internal clients. The other attorney made about a dozen references to the office being “quiet” and being the “only person in the area,” and “traffic being light on the commute in,” etc. YES we know you are there by choice, and we are at home today 😂
Meh. Depends. On both culture and seniority and also personal reputation. It also depends on how you behave. Even before Covid, when I was working the hardest it was from home. People are always tolerant if they know you are grinding super hard and don’t need in-person hand holding.
I always go in when I am less busy and it’s social time. It just so happens i haven’t been less busy for years…
Agree with all of this. I’ve structured my week so that I have a bunch of standing calls on one day and I go into the office that day every week. I can’t get much actual work done between the calls so I use that time to check in with folks in the office, follow up with feedback on assignments, etc. I get too many distractions in the office so I need to work from home when I need to focus on anything.
Unfortunately, I think those who work from home the bulk of the time are at a higher risk of negative outcomes as the economy continues to degrade, the pendulum swings back in favor of employers, and cuts begin to happen.
I think the importance of in office depends on your role. If you are a newer associate or you are supervising a new associate, I think some occasional face to face time is really beneficial (coming from an associate who started in 2020). But if you’re not in those roles and are productive I feel like coming in the office can be a huge waste of time…this coming from someone who needs to go into the office to be productive
👏
They just have daddy issues and everyone knows. 😘
I agree. As I’m sitting in standstill traffic to commute to said office.
I’m one of those folks who’d rather work in the office… I found myself working harder/more at home and had added anxiety of constant reminders of household chores plaguing me. But I don’t brag or even mention staying late. I think everyone has their own way of being productive! No judgment here!
Funny enough, I am usually in the office and enjoy it (80% of the time), but never brag about it. Our firm is very hybrid - no set rules or schedule. Just depends on what’s happening with cases and clients. So some days I’m home, some days I’m in the office. Same with other attorneys. The weird bragging stuff is foreign to our firm (same with the weird comments about people not coming in enough). I know a partner and her associate that are usually WFH - and it’s just not an issue.
When I’m in the office and someone is at home (attorney or paralegal), as long as I can reach them I don’t care. Not sure why some people get all worked up about it.
Tell me you didn’t hit your billable hour requirement without telling me you didn’t hit your billable hour requirement.
I don’t have one.
Anyone who is trying to convince others how hard they’re working is probably not working as hard or is just annoying. Good for you taking a call at 9 pm or working all weekend. No one cares.
After being mostly WFH the last 2.5 years at my big law firm I just accepted a fully in person position for my first in house gig and nervous I’m gonna regret it 😬
Just remember to put on some clothes
