1st year/stub in Texas. I was a summer at my firm in both 2019-2020. Thought I preferred litigation, and told the firm that last summer. Had a change of heart, and in April of this year asked the CTO to switch to transactional. However, she said they didn’t have a need for another junior in transactional. Now I’m in lit and hate it. Can I ask to switch again? When would be the best time to do so? Or should/can I lateral as a 1st yr? I like my firm, just don’t want to start my career like this

"Happy to help" for when you first sign on to a project.
There’s a second year who replies “happy to help” whenever the partner tells her to do something on this case and it’s become so annoying … you’re not doing a favor here, you’re doing your job! Obviously not the end of the world and I’m just being petty, but dont overuse “happy to help”
First time you join a case is fine though

Got it.

Also can throw in an “Understood.” If given a note that doesn’t require action.

Just stick with “Ok, will do.” You’re not getting reviewed on the novelty of your acknowledgments.
Coach
Let no one say that we aren't worth every penny of the 215k
"Who is this?"
Enthusiast
If you don’t know the joke, you don’t deserve more than 215k
You got it dude

On it
Coach
To me “on it” implies you are handling immediately. “Will do” just acknowledges that you will handle at some point.
Enthusiast
Oh, I do say something like “turning to this now” if it’s urgent and I’m acknowledging that I’m jumping on it.
“I’ll get started and let you know if I have any questions.”

Copy. On my list.
I'd respond "???", "No" or "I won't be able to get to this before the next calendar month. If you haven't done it by then, happy to handle then if I am in the mood and the vibe is right. I'll let you know."
Coach
This is me hahhaha
Coach
Just to add to the above- sometimes I use “ok sounds good” or “ok I’ll take care of this now” if urgently handling.
“Okey dokey”
Artichokey!

Understood.
Certainly.
Will handle shortly.

“You bet your ass”

“Comin in hot”
“Whatever”
I usually just do “yes, I can do that.”
"Ok"
You have to make sure it's capitalized exactly that way and there is no punctuation at the end.
“New phone who dis?”
Roger.
Yeap, was in the army before going to law school.
Am I this junior? Haha
