There was a meeting scheduled today with him (which I initially wasn’t invited to) and so my manager (male, super nice dude) was talking about it since he had asked me to look into it. I asked to be invited to that meeting with him, our MD and the CRO. He said ok. 3 minutes before the meeting he takes me off it because the MD asked for it to be a small group bc of limited time with the CRO. All dudes. I always feel like I’m the only female in the virtual room for these growth meetings and now that I wanted to be involved in a RELEVANT project- I’m kicked out? Am I over reacting here!? My manager apologized for taking me off it but didn’t stick up for me. I feel like I won’t be able to hide that Im salty about this, even tho it’s not my managers fault and he’s gonna fill me in tm
So basically kick butt with the info I should’ve received in this meeting, and try to spite the MD ? 🤣

I would assume positive intent but watch for a pattern of behavior. My assumption was that the CRO is used to a more hierarchical structure and wanted to make sure his direct partners were aligned before expanding to their teams. I can see where this is frustrating to you, but it could have been a strategic decision so that teams aren’t caught in the swirl that could have been brewing. I’m in a traditional corporate environment and this happens all the time.
At the end of the day, it was 1 meeting and there will be many more where you’re excluded, if my assumption is correct. If not having face-time with the CRO continues to happen, and it’s needed to advance your KPIs and OKRs, then I would raise an alarm. But for now, learn what you can from the meeting and continue pushing forward your project.
Can you elaborate what you mean by learn what I can from the meeting?
Feeling like I’m not important to be there yet asked to do key work on the project doesn’t exactly make me eager to continue moving their objectives forward. I guess that’s just how it works there, though.
