Okay, real talk. Can these big 4 firms afford to not lay off staff? Do you believe leadership is being stingy with profit margins?

Question for Deloitte (maybe other big 4 too), if you are audit staff and help bring in an audit client, thru your direct networking, do you get a bonus or anything? Or just a high-five?

I am so conflicted about socializing during COVID. My friend invited me to a dinner with two new people (who work at the big 4) at an outdoor restaurant. Where I live, the COVID rate is ~3%. My friend invited the group chat and the two other girls shamed my friend for socializing in a small group during COVID. My friend group won’t agree to be in a pod and won’t meet unless everyone is 6 feet apart. It’s going to get cold soon and I feel like I’m going to be lonely if I don’t make new friends ☹️

Same old discussion but would like a fresh perspective as I am having a career crisis. I started my career at a B4 tax financial services doing mostly federal compliance. At a manager level for various reasons, I switched over to another B4 same group. Currently B4 tax M2 in the greater Seattle area speaking to a recruiter about opportunities. The recruiter keeps telling me with my YOE (just over 6 years) I should be looking at base of 130k in response to my original 150 - 170k. Should I aim lower? Not sure about the Seattle market.

What sort of opportunities presenting themselves in the market lately? For those of you who are looking for exits. I know the market’s iffy but where are the 2K let go from big 4 goin?

I’m currently an analyst at a big 4 consulting firm with 1 1/2 YOE big4 consulting firm and have both BI/data science and data engineering project experience. Trying to decide whether to get on more data engineering or data science projects to continue developing my knowledge and skills in just one area.

Thoughts on holding $TVIX overnight? I’m still anticipating a sell off by EOD, based on recent stats that almost 75% of investors think the market is overbought, and Powell not necessarily driving that much certainty in today’s hearing. $TVIX in and of itself looks overweight, so I’m wondering if volume sell off won’t necessarily reflect the true market volatility.
