They likely won’t shut things down entirely, but they could do what Italy has done and close everything but bare essentials - supermarkets, bodegas, drug stores, banks. Depends how bad it gets.
I was just in Boston heading home and I saw a restaurant / bar with a semi-busy happy hour going on. That’s just crazy at this point.
Everyone knows Boston doesn’t have happy hour!
I just disemboweled a 50-year-old woman over the bodega’s last case of Spindrift. Cracking open that first can in my apartment felt so good.
Incidentally I also work at JP and I have nooo idea why they aren’t just making all the non client facing teams work from home instead of this dumb 50-50 rule. It’s almost as if they’re just following the law to not get punished but don’t actually care about community health 🙃

Yea I can’t believe we had to find out from the news about the 383 cases! And yes 1 week rotation is dumb af, I might just ask my manager if I can stay home entirely
~2 hospital beds per 1000 people in NewYork, for a disease that hospitalized 10-20% of patients. Stay away from people folks
Just a quick one....
I’m also staying in the city out of fear of bringing it home. In general, I’m a little worried - but we’re all in this together OP. Just don’t go out unless you absolutely have too, spend time only with a small
amount friends in apartments, do stuck up on some groceries, do wash yours hands a lot. Do yourself, turn the news off, and read a good book. I think the current amount of anxiety is worse than what will come to be, but that’s no reason to not express extreme caution. We’re New Yorkers, we’ll get through this
I’ve decided to leave the city today. So much is up in the air and unknown. Best to be with loved ones and away from the chaos that will continue to spread here. Stay safe everyone!! Remember to be kind to others during these times - we’re all worried.
I left over the weekend along with my boyfriend. We are self quarantined in an Airbnb for a week then going to assess if we can move into my parents house! Most of the people I know in Manhattan also left (the ones with family outside of the city at least)
I have no idea...I’m wondering the same thing and trying to figure out if I should pack up and leave for a few weeks.
I left NYC on Monday and I’m very curious as well. How different is the vibe there right now? Hope everyone is staying safe.
It’s eerie. Everyone’s running to the stores to stock up. Subway is less crowded but somehow still crowded? Feels like the calm before the storm

I doubt they’ll shut down the city, it’s just misinformation being spread. Look at the posts from city officials.
It is still serious though, other states may reduce travel from New York.
Mayor said closing subway and rationing supplies is an option.

So where are all those folks that thought we wouldn’t shut down the city
Wait what?!
Closing the subway seems unlikely. How would healthcare workers get to hospitals?
Left today... get out if and while you can....
Parents house in the suburbs

I posted a out this but I noticed the nypd putting cameras up on all the blocks around me
I noticed a few black dots on my shoe earlier today. Pretty sure the NYPD is tracking my footsteps. See how convincing the photo is???
I don’t think they’ll shut down the subway. But I do think lots of restaurants, bars, stores and movie theaters will start going on hiatus.
I think closing the city is an option.
I think I’m the only person here heading back into the city...
