30k is a small drop in the bucket at the end of your MBA.
I’d say choose the school that is the best fit (assume you have visited and talked to alumni from both)
Booth. Also, Chicago is way better than the middle of nowhere.
Yes that too.
It won’t hurt to just ask Booth if they could match Tuck. You’ve been admitted. They want you. And they won’t rescind the admission if you politely ask for a little more financial help.
Lots of schools have some room in the fin aid budget to win over cross-admits (HBS notably does not). If you don’t ask, someone else will. Worst case, they’ll say no
Two great choices. Tuck is compelling but I wouldn’t give up an M7 over $30k. As mentioned by C1, $30k is nothing over the duration of your career.
Thought we agreed to use the alternative definition of M7 based on the post below
Booth without question. Trust me $30k is nothing. You won’t look back and say “wow so glad I saved that $30k”. I’m super biased tho 😂

Congrats. If MBB is your goal, then either Tuck or Booth will get you there. I think you’ll have to ask yourself where you fit best.
They have very different cultures and experiences. I think you should reflect more about what is your preference. If you are good enough, both will get you interviews
Know soooo many Tuckies at MBB (I’m ex-MBB). Not so many from Booth, frankly. I think it’s a bit coincidental but I said this in another post, Tuck’s smaller class size leads to greater odds of placement in consulting or banking. But MBB recruitment is HUGE at Tuck. It’s kind of a consulting feeder school.
At the end, the question is “fit” and whether you’ll be happy with the Booth or Tuck experience. Both are excellent choices so you won’t go wrong either way. Congrats!

Would look at stats. Booth is also a feeder school. The difference may be Booth grads don’t stay as long at MBB as, say, Tuck’s grads. What I’ve noticed is that Tuck grads are loyal to consulting if they were placed in MBB or legacy Parthenon.
Congrats on Booth, from a future tuckie on the housing waitlist..

Agree with L1 that there’s no harm in asking nicely. Def come to Booth tho. We’ll take care of you :)
Congrats! Mind if I ask what your stats are? In a similar boat with Kellogg hoping to hear back soon…
All I know is booth had ~620 students and ~110 went to MBB. I’d say MBB recruiting is looking pretty decent there…
Even if they don’t, you owe it to yourself to go to Booth if you really want to work at MBB.
You could probably make up for that $30k through internship income difference plus signing bonus when you graduate. I would choose Booth because hey… you only get to study MBA once.
If MBB is your goal, I don’t think going to Booth will improve your chances. Focus on the other factors you’re looking for in a business school (location, culture, etc.) and go with the school that aligns best with those.
That’s impressive. Just checked and Tuck sent 42% of its entire class to consulting, with a majority to MBB, and then Parthenon, LEK, Oliver Wyman, Deloitte etc
