Okay to use something written at current firm as a writing sample to apply for a different job? [i.e. - a motion for summary judgment or something similar]

I have. I just change the names, the caption, and any other identifying information. It's something you produced, so you should be able to use it as you see fit (and as appropriate).

Check your state RPCs, but yes. Confidentiality under the RPCs is very strict.

Sure, just make sure to redact or change any client-specific information or other identifying information and only use a written product that you exclusively made (I.e. that no one substantially edited or revised it).

I do. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

No need to change anything if the writing sample has been filed in the public record.

Not in my jurisdiction unless the case is sealed. What jurisdiction are you in?

Just redact names. As long as it is your work product.

I havent and dont.

Anyone ever had a potential employer call a current one to verify any info? Hoping not...I am not “actively job searching” and only seeking to apply to a particular position with a particular company. Wouldn’t want my current boss to feel that I am being disloyal.

Hasn’t happened to me but happened to a former colleague. He’d accepted a government position but hadn’t told our firm yet (to make matters worse, he was taking vacation first). The Dept he was going to work for sent over an employment verification while he was still on vacation. His reputation at the firm was totally ruined (and he was a good lawyer), that’s basically what he’s known for now.

My two main writing samples are work product properly redacted. Seems to be fine.

I’m wondering from those who have moved from account to strategy how you’ve liked it and what were your motivations, pros and cons of the jump and what you think about the trajectory of your career and salary now. The head of strategy at my agency recently said I could be on her team and I’m extremely intrigued but surprised as I just always thought I’d be on the account side since I do so well there.

Got an offer from another B4. What pieces of comp/benefits are actually negotiable? Base, sign-on? And if they won’t negotiate on those two, what else can be discussed? Thanks in advanced!

Alright so there’s a thing called reclaim my status. If you had a reason why you lost status in the last year or two like COVID, baby, new job, etc. You need to submit some basic documentation and they give you that status for 3 months with a DRASTICALLY lower threshold to make the status permanent and even higher tiers are much easier to obtain during those 3 months. Google “reclaim my status Delta”

When you get a rental car, what do you do to make sure you don’t get taken advantage of for some bogus issue/scratch that’s already on the car? Take pic/video before, tell the checkout person of any issues (although this can be hard especially if at a smaller airport & you get the keys in the airport and there’s no gate when you leave), buy the rental insurance? If you have a card that covers rental cars (CSR, Amex Hilton) do you decline rental insurance and use the card benefits?

Hi all, it's my first time getting promoted and my salary increase is lower than anticipated. Any tips on negotiating? Do i need a counter offer? How do I stay unemotional and how do I talk about this effectively? I really only wanted another $5k, I was on the lower side of the range despite getting the highest rating and a lot of positive feedback. I'm not sure why I'm getting paid less than my peers despite getting a higher rating.
