Hi All,
I am working as "Engineer I" and have 3.9 YOE in manual and automation testing. I have knowledge in selenium using java, cypress with js, Api automation using Cypress, also learning Webdriver IO.
What is the CTC that I should be expecting with these skills if I decide to switch?
Current CTC is 8LPA fixed.
Please do let me know.
Thanks.
never turn down either. period. O & M seems to disconnect the two. and if nothing else, if will be easier to apply for jobs at the higher level if you decide to leave.
Normally I would agree with you AE1. But I feel like we're dealing with a different beast at O&M in terms of when and what to say yes/no to.
From what I've witnessed and from my own personal experience, it is nearly impossible to move up once you're in. Take the promotion and start looking elsewhere and don't tell them what you make.
This happens so much at O & M :(
Take the title bump. You can always move to another shop, with that new title and get that bump in pay. Leap frogging is the only way to move up in this biz.
I know it sucks but it's the way it works at the 636. Take it and then get a double bump when you inevitably leave.
They wouldn't have it any other way. Heard of people who had several bumps in title and a frozen salary going into their 4th year... horrible. That's why so many people are flocking to the revolving door. Make sure to be on it with your manager, meaning that you make sure that you are considered in the next raise pool.
never take a title change without a bump in salary, you will never be able to catch up and you need to fight for what you're worth! if you let things like this slide each step of the way, you'll always be behind where you should be and incrementally could lose out on thousands if not millions over the course of your career.
Don't do it. Title bump without salary means you will work more for less and end up regretting your decision.
^ Not even a good tag on to the pun...Read the rest of the thread and understand that I was asking a company-procedure-specific question.
I came from Leo so I understand this game that big shops play. they use their name and reputation and the belief that people are lining up to work for them as an excuse to low-ball valuable and hard working employees. and employees let this happen, but i truly believe its shooting yourself in the foot and sending a message that you're not valuing yourself at the level you deserve to be paid. no ones going to fight for the salary bump for you except for you. at the end of the day regardless of politics of these big shops KNOW 👏🏻YOUR👏🏻WORTH 👏🏻otherwise this cycle just continues. best of luck to you and i hope everything works out!

More like amputation. You are promoted for a reason. Whether you want the promotion to work against you or for you is how you should look at it.
