Only in America, do corporations worry about healthcare costs...While it seems sleazeball, the employer contribution is a serious hit on the bottom line.
For everyone that is saying that the shareholder primacy is the still prevailing corporate purpose, that no longer squares with not just the academics and the commies, but also with the Business Roundtable and some of the leading CEOs: https://www.businessroundtable.org/business-roundtable-redefines-the-purpose-of-a-corporation-to-promote-an-economy-that-serves-all-americans
And yet you still cash the firm’s checks. There are plenty of non-profits that would love to have your help pursuing goals that you would find appropriate.
Nice internet resume of your volunteer time. That statement alone means any coherent response to you is wasted.
a remark about how medical debt can be a productivity motivator.
What a sleazeball
Noooooo. Not who we are. Please call it out.
I was 1/3 on that call too. Now P and I know you didn’t mean it when you said “I agree”.
There are more than 3 but nice try
Another reason for Medicare 4 All
I don’t get the controversy. Employment is a private contract between employees and a profit driven corporation. They are not discriminating or doing anything illegal.
Maybe they have to cut costs somewhere so the company doesn’t fail? Maybe they need better bottom line to invest in new business thus more jobs.
They are not allowed to cancel healthcare so we are talking about marginally to moderately worse benefits - better off than many.
And as others pointed out, the CEO is going to have to weigh the medium term risk of losing good employees with whatever gain he is after - not an easy decision.
Lastly, this is exactly what we do as consultants - help frame difficult problems with view on the trade offs. Agree with others that it sounds like you should move on to a non-profit.
SM2, parachuting in with the useful insights!
Have you seen our own healthcare?? It’s commonly complained about in the PwC bowl and is known to be one of, if not the single, worst plan in the industry.
Not surprised that your partner would have this view since they’re ok screwing staff in order to be more profitable and put more money in their own pockets
Our plan is garbage p3, just search our bowl for why..
Hope you called out the sleazeball behaviour
Ummm folks, what do you think PwC does?
“Be well, work well”
Disgusting but it's business, right? 🤷🏻♂️ seems like a very specific convo. Let's hope they don't find your post here and can figure out who you are. Careful

Aren’t we hired to be “trusted advisors?” I assume this is only one possible solution the partner pitched.
Ultimately it’s the responsibility of the client to choose the course of action.
Medical debt?
We’ve got great plans at Deloitte @P4!
It’s part of one of the plans. He got 3 kids out of Deloitte before he left for industry
Hi OP - A few things. First, benefits is one part of the total rewards provided time employees (401k, equity, profit sharing, Comp, bonuses, time off, etc). Second, maybe the benefits spend is too high vs market. Or perhaps there is a way to offer similar benefits coverage for cheaper? Or maybe the employees aren’t using all of the benefits the company is paying for? I cannot imagine we don’t have a ton data to support the recommendation we are making (and weren’t asked to do so by the client.). As many have mentioned, we are partners to our clients and sometimes we don’t like or agree with the task we’ve been assigned, but sounds like they are looking at an option, let’s not judge the client or the partner as all of these decisions are complex and never easy. Better they call to make an informed decision than just cut benefits, no?
Op - me thinks consulting is not for you.
