I love not being an employee of the companies I consult for. I like my scenery changing even though I have been at the same client for the last 3 years...in year 4.

like

Umm. No. Because I am usually there to help clients feel good about their decisions that have already been made with pretty and “thought provoking” decks. I don’t consult. I have to find out what my clients really want me to say

@ey1 seriously though, dont you feel lile a boss after youve solved some ridiculously convoluted problem for the client? I love that feeling!

I love hopping from one problem to another, from one client to another, and from one team to another. I have ADD and I need a change every 10-12 weeks to not spin into boredom. Consulting is perfect job for people like me: tight intense passionate focused research, deep solution development, read-out, and closure. (I am in Strategy, all gigs are relatively short, intense and diverse)

Newly promoted experienced hire SC making $113k, 10 YOE (switched industries). Got an offer from TCS in an Advisory practice (not the tech sweatshop stuff that I keep seeing people mention). Base salary is $190k and in TCS equivalent of a M role. Downside to taking the salary hike and boomeranging back to D in ~2 years? FYI - I have 2 kids, so that kind of pay raise is kind of a big deal.

I accepted a new job, they said PTO was “generous.” I find out it’s 19 days a year of PTO (which includes sick days).
