On a project doing a lot of the communication, PowerPoints and helping out with the deliverables. But how do I get the technical experience is it just through experience and osmosis?

Start spending more time with the technical folks, sit next to them, ask questions when you can, and see if they need help with anything. Most people are happy to pass on the knowledge

Is that such a bad thing? It seems like tech roles are the higher demanded job inside industry.

like

Agreed with DD^. Ask a lot of questions and do your own research.

Careful what you wish for...

What EY said, and what DD1 said. You'll want to be careful to not become the tech guy but also develop real skills so you can find another job if worst comes to worst. Navigate the waters carefully my friend.

OP - I think it's very smart to have a solid understanding of the technical. I find it frustrating when people have a shallow understanding of the how yet are responsible for selling the work or creating the strategy/change/implementation plans. Bringing both sides is incredibly valuable to the client and your team. There is also nothing wrong going into the tech roles if you choose that route.

Slalom Consulting 🐠 How did you prep for your case? From what I understand (I could be wrong), it’s more focused on the logistics of an engagement (how would you structure/approach the project, engage stakeholders, etc.) as opposed to traditional “should Company A enter Market X”. If my assumption is correct, the standard case prep doesn’t seem like it would be beneficial. Are there any other materials you used?

How many points? This morning I had to take care of business (if you catch my drift), but the toilet wouldn’t flush correctly in my hotel room. I needed to leave for the client soon, so I asked the front desk if they could send someone up to take care of it. They said that the maintenance person would be in at 8am (I called the front desk at 7:45am) and that they’d get it taken care of. Long story short, when I get back to the hotel at 6:30 pm it has not been taken care of and now my room stinks
