You can pick your nose, but you can't pick your engagement team
No, it won't always be like this. You'll be in teams that you hate doing shittier work eventually. Get out while you can
Yeah, maybe for your next project you can find a non-profit. That way the work feels like it matters more.
I don't feel like I'm actually doing something that matters besides making the company money.

It's not about soul or not. Unless you're doing something morally wrong, your soul is not implicated. Most people do not do jobs that "make a difference." The cab driver driving me home right now isn't "making a difference" except to how soon I get to eat dinner. Consulting allows you to aspire to making a difference, but you rarely can as a junior consultant.
Honestly this is the main reason I like being fed. I feel like the work for the government often does actually impact people
You like your team and you like your work... Now you're sounding a little bratty to be honest
OP I felt the same way - switched to public sector.... Tbd how that will work out for me :) I say get good quality experience working with huge complex corporations and then quit to do something else maybe work for a non profit start up. Maybe even though you feel like it doesn't matter now the experience is good for doing something that will matter to you at some point!
Anytime OP!
what is not right? Not challenging enough? No growth opp?
Lol e1. That made me laugh so hard
@OW sorry I have a soul
@pwc1-correct. Op-it is a soul destroying job. At least start looking at other options.
Any suggestions? I like the work, just want it to matter
That isn't the point of my post, sorry. Maybe I should have explained more. Everything is great but I want to do something where I impact people who need it. Not just a client who is paying millions. Consulting is fun, makes me think and develops me. Will I always feel like this and have others been there?
I feel like the easy answer here is go into nonprofit work, but I think that seeing the corruption behind the scenes and the funds roll up into a bloated staffs compensation with 1% allocated to the actual cause would be even more discouraging
PwC1.... what's probably so true.
Life in general is that way.
We have a ton of probono work and Deloitte supports skill based volunteering there is more than one way to make a difference. We don't just give money to organizations we give skills, wounded warrior, Red Cross, Free the Slaves. It's all there if you look.
