On a project with terrible lead/manager, not a good fit, and have ~7 months left. Other contact wants me on their project next month, better fit, great team - do I go for it? Best approach?

Yea you go for it. Your consulting career is too valuable to waste time on projects that aren't a good fit. Put yourself first

Own your career. Go for it. Just be honest (not brutally honest tho) and say the other project seems like a better fit and is more aligned with your long term goals

Worth it. Push and push it's better for everyone
