Quit using “on a whim” eight times in a sentence. Otherwise, good luck.
Today morning - pls fix
Well I got you beat, McKinsey rejected me within 12 hours of applying , MBA school recruiting process. Keep working at it, at the end I got the last laugh and going to BCG!
Hahahahaha noted. Glad to join the team!
Even in good times just applying online usually doesn’t work well. You need a referral. Why on earth would now seem like a good time though? Campus recruiting channels will continue but lateral hiring is falling off as a priority.
The quality of your post says it all
What I can ascertain from this post alone: 1. OP applied on a whim to one of the world’s top consulting firms. This does not indicate a real level of interest or dedication outside of just “wanting a good job” - people don’t just become the best at something on a whim. 2. Without posting any details about level of position or description of role, there could have been a myriad of reasons why OP was rejected quickly, e.g. they were not qualified. Why OP feels that they deserve a long assessment time without even knowing how it works behind the scenes shows entitlement. 3. Asking anonymously on a forum on how to “get into Bain” is the least effective way to gain real insight. How about trying to research the company, understand their values, practice relevant interviewing skills, network with people within your circles first? Then maybe ask a more specific or targeted question on here. This shows no real effort was made. @OP - the people who work at Bain are some of the smartest in the world. If I can gather these 3 points from just your post, I’m sure they can gather more from your application alone. I would encourage you to focus on preparation and research. There is likely no secret to getting in but “Luck favors the well-prepared”. So good luck 👍🏻
My $0.02 - focus on where you are and what you’re supposed to do. When you’re so good at it that people come to you for advice on it, then indulge your whimsy, you might surprise yourself. Don’t sell your own company short, nor yourself. PwC can give you more than any MBB if you do it correctly. The point is not to denigrate the MBB, it’s to show that you get back what you put in - do it at PwC and you’ll see that your returns can be a lot more than you expected.
All 3 of the MBB firms will be swallowed up by the big 4 before this recession is over
Lol never. Some activities overlap and some do not. We have different strengths and the “MBBs” have earned their reputation with a lot less sleep than any team I’ve ever worked with is willing to put up with.
Missing “and” after “Thursday” pls fix as well thx
Get an MBA
Apply to Accenture . They will buy it and then you can move to Bain.
I once applied for a job that has just opened on a Friday afternoon and was rejected because it had been ‘filled’ by Monday lunchtime.
Final sem of grad school, started filling out my details on a job portal and stepped out for dinner midway through the process. Got a rejection email based on my half filled profile. That was my wake up call to focus on networking over submitting applications.
Wow. Peedubs
