A lot — BAH is probably one of the most outspoken and progressive firms when it comes to diversity, especially LGBT+ related diversity.

Another example is we have a diversity summit in Jan where /everyone/ is invited — I know a fair amount of straight white men who are going because they want to know more about supporting minorities and how to do so in the right way. A firm that does such things even though their clients are typically more conservative (defense is an old white boys club) really speaks volumes. Definitely still a work in progress, but the fact that I’ve been on a 20+ member team in the defense space where 90% of the team was female shows that change is definitely happening.

Any ideas/suggestions on how to go about forming a diversity committee at a mid size regional law firm? I expect it would be met with some amount of resistance. Thanks!

Saw this on LinkedIn this morning. I must admit at times I don’t get questioned by just men but women as well who don’t understand why I’m working tirelessly for equality. They either state it’s an uphill battle or “all in my head.” Has anyone been told that gender equality is a mirage? How did you handle the situation? No wrong answers!

NYC vs Chicago - considering moving out of NYC (obvious reasons :-)), though we love the city and like diversity and energy for our kids to grow up (no suburbs). Any thoughts/experience on Chicago?

What is the legal ratio of adults:students in an ECSE inclusion setting? In a reverse mainstream setting? Are Title I PreK classrooms required to have a para and teacher? What is the ratio for that? What is the legal ratio of adults:students in a mixed 4 y/o PreK setting? (#___ SPED+ #___regular=1 teacher and ____paras) Specifically in Louisiana, but curious about other states, as well!

Alright so fine there were not many diversity initiatives in the past and not a huge push to create more diversity in organizations. But now is the time you can change that. Moving forward you can put these these initiatives in place.

Thinking about buying a home in the next couple of years either around the Chicago area or suburbs with access to the city. What’s the best neighborhood for a number of factors such as- diversity, safetiness, property value, school rankings, overall funness? I’m a South Asian man married to a White woman, so the location diversity does matter to me when raising kids. Thank you for all your help!

I recently got married and started talking to my sister in law more often. She addresses me as “Bro” EVERY SINGLE TIME. She knows I identify as female. I absolutely hate because it’s a sign of deeply ingrained patriarchy and I also find it disrespectful. I never address anyone as bro, dude, man etc because I honestly find it very disrespectful. I would rather be addressed by my name. How can I handle this situation? We are still forming a reltnship & don’t want to hurt that process. I’m Indian.

Is it diversity if you only hire minorities to work on diversity projects that make you, as an agency, look good? Maybe those people just want to work on stupid banner ads like their white coworkers

Don’t hate on me plz. I’m planning to get an online or hybrid MBA with focus on information systems. I studied and worked in Control Systems Engineering and got into consulting at 27, manager at big4 now(33). My focus is to simply get better at what I do as I rise up the ladder. Would really appreciate any schools one can recommend. I didn’t grow up or studied in USA so really not sure which colleges might be better (?) than others.

Would you leave Deloitte as a M for MBB but at one level down (SC equivalent)? I’m conflicted because I feel like I have a strong network internally and have lots of freedom to execute projects as I see fit but worried switching would take away all that plus move me backwards in role / responsibility.

likehelpful

Is MBB (mostly thinking about McKinsey) really that bad in terms of WLB? I feel like people tend to exaggerate things sometimes - i was told i'd be working approximately 65h at Deloitte in Tech Strategy and honestly that barely ever happened. I wasn't considering switching since I love my job and my team, but many people are telling me I shouldn't "waste" my potential at Deloitte (whatever that means...). They kind of got to me and now i'm looking for more info about the culture/work at MBB.
