On average, how many schools do people apply to? I was thinking 2 stretch, 2 competitive, and 2 safety schools and then hope for the best 🙏

That sounds fair

like

I would only apply to "safeties" if you actually want to go. I applied to 6 schools (4 through consortium) and that was a grind. My safety was Georgetown because ultimately I'm from the DC area and want to end back up so I didn't mind going if I had to. I had 2 reaches 2 matches and 3 safeties as well but looking back I only needed to apply to Georgetown as a safety.

like

2 safeties*** not 3.

I did 6 with similar approach

like

But also note that 6 apps was a GRIND really a ton of effort. So just prepare way in advance. You need ~3 weeks to crank out an app. The first one might take 4-5 weeks.

like

No reason to apply to safeties unless you cannot afford to wait until next cycle

like

I’m coming up on 5YOE at the time of apps or close to 6 so I basically need to get in this time around or I’m prob too old

like

Agree with EY1, don’t waste your time on applications for any schools you wouldn’t want to go to. The applications take so much more time and effort than I ever anticipated, I think it’s better to nail an app for 1 safety vs. just ok apps for 3 - 4 safety schools

like

I would suggest applying to 2 stretch and 2 or 3 competitive in R1. Once you know where you stand, you can apply to safeties (as needed) in R2. Alternatively, if you get into one of your competitive schools in R1 and know that you are going to business school, you have nothing to lose if you apply to a dream school that is a stretch. Plus, having been through the process in R1, you will have application and interview experience under your belt and be able to put together your application with more confidence and no downside risk.

like

Agree with this. Don’t need a safety until R2. Also- follow everyone’s advice and don’t waste time or energy applying to a safety unless you’d really go there. I did 1 HSW, 4 targets, and 1 safety and it worked out well.

I applied to 6 stretch schools 🤷🏼‍♀️💅🏼 who wants to go to a safety really. Go big or go home

like

I applied to 4, 1 safety and 3 stretches

Hi - I’m a lawyer based in the UK, and looking to improve my IP law knowledge. Has anyone done the PGDip in IP Law at Oxford? Or can anyone give any suggestions on some good courses / resources? My background is in transactional, but improving my IP law knowledge would really help with my role.

I wish there was a program where I could spend a week working in different sectors over the course of a few months so that I can see what I actually like and want to pursue grad school/certifications for. Nothing worse than not knowing what to do with your future and feeling like every path you’ll regret.

Fairly new to investing. For folks that have been in the game for quite some time, what sort of information do you look for in determining whether a company is a good investment or not, whether the price point is high or there’s still room to run, etc. If someone said ABC is a good investment, when doing your DD, what do you look for and why? Any links or books/courses you’ve used would also be appreciated.
